
Project funding is divided into three types of projects- Commercial real estate projects, Non Infrastructure projects and Infrastructure projects. Further, The project can be established as backward and forward integration of the existing business, Expansion of existing business, Expansion of business in new product relating to existing product line, Expansion of business in new product not relating to existing product line and last is new business altogether.
RBI has updated norms related to DCCO (Date of commencement of commercial operations) of the project. If the DCCO is not achieved then the loan becomes NPA and therefore there are certain rules w.r.t its extension as well. Let us study all about that through this video.

Project financing- RBI has issued draft prudential norms on projects under implementation on 3rd May 2024 covering various aspects like: 1. Different stages of project- Design Phase, Construction phase and operations phase 2. Definition of Project finance, Financial closures, DCCO, Exogenous risks, Endogenous risks etc 3. Revised provisioning norms and DCCO extension norms etc.
The last day to submit suggestions on the draft norms was 15th June 2024 and final decision on applicability of these norms is awaited. Meanwhile it is important for us to study what the new updates brought in by the RBI to regulate the project financing done by the financial institutions. Let us go through with it in full details.
