Well VideoJoe did a Condo renovation & he ended up painting every surface in the entire Condo & whenever he paints ceilings he likes to remove the light fixtures because it makes it so much easier to run a paint roller up there because he won't have to go back & cut in around all the light fixtures & everything else on ceilings for that matter.

Now VideoJoe can look at the existing light fixtures when taken down, & give them a good clean & decide if he even wants to replace certain light fixtures or not. You can do it too.

Does it really matter what size wire nuts you use to connect up the wiring? It might.

Does it really matter what type of light bulb to use in an existing light fixture?...my word! I say yes it does matter, if you want to save more money & if you want to be safer than not.

Does it really matter if the existing light fixture you are re-installing has a bit of paint on the actual surface rim of the light fixture? You can be the judge of that. But for me I like to do the best I possibly can...because I can!

What if the last electrician decided to install a ceiling light fixture without using a ceiling junction box? I guess you will need to make a decision here...

Take a look at your existing light fixture & see what needs to be done in order to re-install it. Try to remember how you removed an existing light fixture so you will see what the last electrician did in order to install it & decide if you are going to install it back the same way or if you need to do something different.

This will also give you a chance to see how your light switch cover plates are lined up. Same issue for your duplex outlet cover plates. Since VideoJoe is working on some electrical stuff in this Condo he will go the extra mile for sure...

You may come across a light fixture trim cover for a can light that needs some attention. Can you work on these types of lights? That's kind of up to you. This video will give you a few ideas for things you can check on yours.

VideoJoe always removes can light trim covers before painting ceilings. Don't try to paint a ceiling without doing this. I have even seen professional painters taking the time to mask off every round trim cover & leave them up before painting a ceiling. Not a good idea!

Sometimes when you go to the hardware store to try to match something up like a can light trim cover spring, you might have to improvise if the spring you get is not the very exact size as all the others!

Take your time & have some patience to make your repair look like you were never there.

Does it really matter what type of flood light to use in your can light fixtures? I would say yes! You will save money too.

Does it really matter what type of halogen light bulb you use to replace a burned out one? It could for sure. In fact you might want to replace some of your halogen light bulbs that are still working depending on what type of halogen light bulb you might have...really?

When was the last time you saw a light fixture mounted to an actual wall? If you ever encounter one that needs to be replaced or re-installed just know you can install these types of lights too.
