Learn a fundamental concept for breaking down any subject into small, simple painting steps, and discover a principle you can use to start and paint anything.
Learn to select a darker color, create a new layer with a clipping mask and use multiply mode to build depth, then apply the hard blend brush with controlled pressure.
Apply the darkest color on a new clipping mask layer to intensify shadows, creating a more dramatic composition by focusing on the darkest areas.
Apply highlights to your painting by using a bright but not white color, adding subtle reflected light in direct-lit areas, and preserving composition before final touch-ups.
Apply the traditional painting workflow used by old masters to break down portraits, plants, and landscapes into easy steps. Gain painting basics with this method.
Create a small details layer at 3% for the leaves, compare with the original, hide the sketch, then add short dynamic lines and dots to convey movement, finishing with shadows.
Apply a white ink layer above the lights, using the ink bleed brush to add controlled highlights along the black ink, balancing line breaks and reflections without overdoing it.
Explore color variations in Procreate by adjusting layer opacity and modes, grouping layers, duplicating illustrations, using snapping, and shifting hue with hue/saturation/brightness to create bold, cohesive color palettes.
Apply selective blending on the current layer without affecting the layer beneath, refining the iris with brush strokes. Add highlights and darker tones, then merge layers for the liquify adjustment.
Set up the canvas in Procreate and add a layer with carbon stick brush. Turn off tilt and set scale to 17% and brush size to 2%, then paint leaves.
Master painting leaves in Procreate using a multi-layer workflow with a green palette, careful color shifts, and variable brush pressure to build surface texture, highlights, shadows, and dynamic perimeters.
Paint the vase with a brownish red sanguine base, following surface directions and using multiple layers. Add shading for cylindrical volume, refine edges, and apply rim highlights and shadows.
Paint petals on a new layer using purple tones, guiding shading toward the longest side. Apply mid tones, shadows, and highlights on the flower highlights layer.
Learn to paint stems (pedicels) in Procreate by building a base color, layering a second color for curvature, applying darker tones for definition, adding highlights, and casting shadows.
Create stamens in Procreate by selecting swatches, duplicating layers, and painting with circular strokes, adjusting hue, saturation, and highlights to build texture on a succulent plant.
Master Procreate retouching with color adjustments, layer masks, and hue-saturation edits. Duplicate layers for backups, apply masks and blur, and experiment with tones toward a cohesive color scheme.
Learn a stylish marker technique in Procreate to paint a cake slice for cookbook illustration, and explore uses in product design, architecture, and fashion.
Create cutouts for clipping masks using a monoline brush across cream, sponge, and ganache layers. Copy paper textures, rename layers, and prepare for coloring the sponge in the next lesson.
Create sponge color layers with clipping masks, fill with the marker cake brush, and build shading by reducing brush opacity and rotating the canvas to draw gradual lines.
Master fruit color creation in Procreate by building layered shapes for raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries, using monoline and marker brushes, clipping masks, and textured strokes.
Learn to refine a Procreate painting by merging layers, applying clipping masks, and adding highlights, textures, and light tones to ganache, cream, and fruit for a dynamic, cohesive illustration.
Explore color correction in Procreate by adding shadows and a background, adjusting saturation and hue, and using linear burn and curves to finalize the illustration.
Set up the canvas, create clipping masks, and color sponge and cream layers to reflect texture. Then paint ganache and fruits and unify the illustration with ink.
Learn to illustrate a sleeping fox cub in Procreate using the peppermint brush. Set up the canvas, tweak brushes, build an undercoat, shade, add details, and color corrections.
Apply color number three as a light first coat on the fox face on the same layer, building strokes toward the eyes and ears while focusing on cavities and corners.
Apply color number four with a reddish, intense tone to nest hairs, blend with existing colors, and build even shading around the eyes, nose, ears, and cheeks without exaggeration.
Learn to paint ears with a dark inner base and lighter outer fur, layering color numbers four, five, two, and one to define edges, hairs, and dark cavities.
Learn to add highlights in Procreate by duplicating layers, using the brightest snout color, and painting on a separate layer to control ear fur and facial highlights.
Refine the illustration by adding subtle details, define the eyes, muzzle, nose, and ears with colors from the snout palette, and clean up edges before whiskers in the next lesson.
Paint the tail with layered shading and highlights on fur, use a sketch, refine with a color palette, duplicate and flip layers for a fluffy foxtail, finish with color correction.
Perform color correction in Procreate using guides, duplicating and merging layers, and liquify to fit the fox into a square space, with saturation at 58% and brightness at 52%.
In this Procreate Megapack course you get 6 classes in 1!
Organised from easy to more difficult classes, it's a great way to learn the basics of Procreate and digital painting in general. For each class, you can watch each presentation and the first lesson, where you can set up the canvas and download all the materials such as drawings, palette and papers.
Here is the course structure:
Course A - Composition Breakdown
