Prepare for the data cloud consultant certification exam by building a baseline understanding of how data cloud works, and follow the course overview.
Target learners with broad Salesforce product knowledge or experience in marketing or data modeling. Advise beginners to pursue fundamental Salesforce certifications first.
Meet Isaac, a longtime Salesforce professional with diverse roles and 10+ certifications, who created this course to help you prepare for the data cloud consultant exam.
Align with the Salesforce exam guide by navigating the course structure, condensing 20+ hours of Trailhead and reading into essential knowledge objectives and subject areas, with a final practice test.
Take notes and write at least one point from each lesson to boost your chances of passing the Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant Exam; writing on paper strengthens memory.
Describe data clouds, their function, key terminology, and business value; identify cloud use cases. Articulate the data cloud lifecycle, flow of data, dependencies, and data ethics principles for exam readiness.
Explore how Data Cloud harmonizes and unifies data from diverse sources using streams, data lake objects, and data models to create unified customer profiles for personalization and AI-driven insights.
Data cloud harmonizes and unifies data from diverse sources for action and analysis. The lecture covers marketing cloud use cases and data cloud's role in Salesforce AI capabilities across industries.
Explore the data cloud lifecycle—connect, harmonize, unify, analyze and predict, and act—revealing how data moves from ingestion through modeling, identity resolution, and unified customer views.
Apply data ethics to govern gathering, protection, use, and sharing of data; protect personal data and privacy, use first party data responsibly, and collect only what's necessary.
Master data cloud setup and administration by configuring permissions and org-wide settings, create data spaces and bundles, diagnose data with Data Explorer, Profile Explorer, and APIs, using standard permission sets.
Provision data cloud in an existing or separate org based on organization architecture, then grant customer data admin permission set and read and view all permissions, plus standard permission sets.
Describe and configure data stream types and data bundles with Salesforce connectors, cloud storage options such as Amazon S3, and ingestion APIs, and leverage CRM Starter Bundle for quick mapping.
Identify use cases for data spaces and create data spaces to segment data by brand, department, or region within one data cloud instance.
Learn to use packaging and data kits for lifecycle management, differentiate unmanaged and managed packages, install via AppExchange, and report on data cloud objects like streams, segments, and identity resolutions.
Explore data in Data Cloud with Data Explorer to view and validate objects, data lake objects, and calculated insights. Customize Profile Explorer to show unified individual record pages.
Explore data ingestion and modeling in the data cloud, covering transformation capabilities, ingestion from various sources, identity resolution, and validating ingested and modified data, including connector refresh rates.
Explore data cloud transformation capabilities, using formula fields for row-level needs like extracting state from city-state pairs, creating composite keys, and streaming transformations to split records into data lake objects.
Describe the data ingestion process from multiple sources, including normalized and denormalized models, selecting data sources, configuring stream properties, and applying profile, engagement, or other data categories.
Map disparate data sources to the customer 360 data model, using data model objects, attributes, primary and foreign keys, and identity resolution to achieve interoperable, standardized data across subject areas.
Inspect and validate ingested and modeled data in data cloud with data explorer; select object types, columns, and filters, and review relationships via the visual graph.
Explain identity resolution by describing matching and reconciliation rule sets, how they are applied, and how changes affect record consolidation, outcomes, and use cases.
Create match rules to guide identity resolution and determine data to review. Use exact, fuzzy, or normalized matching for email, phone, and address, and include names to prevent cross-person matches.
Apply reconciliation rules to select data sources for the unified profile after matches, prioritizing by last updated, most frequent, or source sequence, at object and field levels.
Validate identity resolution results after processing by evaluating the resolution summary for correctness and consolidation, noting unified profiles are not golden records and data is not lost; enable A/B testing.
Explore segmentation and insights in the Salesforce data cloud, define concepts and use cases, and learn to configure and maintain segments with calculated, streaming, and nested insights.
Segment harmonized data to understand and target customers, publish segments to activation targets such as Marketing Cloud, and run campaigns using use cases like excluding recent purchasers and seasonal spenders.
Explore how segment membership data models store and verify members, and analyze who enters or exits segments over time, using Data Explorer, Tableau, and SQL demos.
Configure, refine, and maintain segments in data cloud using the segment canvas, rule builder, containers, and exclusions to define audience criteria, publish schedules, and activation targets.
Learn to compare calculated insights and streaming insights, build multidimensional metrics like LTV and CSat scores, and act on real-time insights through data actions in the data cloud.
Explore activations and their basic use cases, timing dependencies, and attributes and related attributes in the data cloud lifecycle; troubleshoot activation issues and learn data actions and their requirements.
Define activations by publishing segments to activation platforms, including Marketing Cloud journey builder, and advertising partners such as Facebook, Meta, and Google, plus AWS S3 and Commerce Cloud experiences.
Learn how the attribute library adds up to 100 additional activation attributes, including those from activation membership entity and related attributes like products purchased, enabling expanded personalization in messaging journeys.
Identify timing dependencies affecting the data cloud lifecycle and learn to stagger published schedule times for a large number of data cloud audiences.
Troubleshoot mismatches between data cloud segment counts and activation counts in marketing cloud activations, and address missing contact point email records that prevent generating subscriber keys.
Data actions let you act on streaming data to trigger actions when conditions are met. For example, sending a Marketing Cloud email when a vehicle crosses 10,000 miles.
