The video is a demonstration of Advanced RPAS flight missions done in complex airspace. All flights in such airspace will need and SFOC or Advanced RPAS certification.
This lesson is an introduction to RPAS Advanced Flight Review requirements. Overview of basic structure, time commitment, briefing, the scope of a a "site survey" and the importance of safety. Transport Canada Flow charts will be discussed, and safety is stressed.
Links to TC websites for the Flight Review are included as well as to our in-class training options.
Footage take from actual job site of RPAS pilot doing checks and after take-off checklists.
The lecture continues with the fundamentals and rudiments of RPAS operations. The Pre-Flight inspection and site survey are given an overview as well as the organized checklist for each phase. Expected practices for RPAS are presented along with common mistakes and oversights.
The lecture reviews checklists for RPAS operations including, Readiness Checks, Pre-Flight Checks, and After T/O checklists. The importance of checklists is discussed along with organizational behavior techniques for drone pilots. Downloads for the DJI Inspire standard Checklist is included for reference as well as the SFOC application guideline.
This lesson is a comprehensive review of the Flight Review Guide and spells out the meaning of each item on the list. The list from the guide goes from A to G. The instructor will elaborate on each item on the guide so the student will have no ambiguity on the various points.
Attached will be a example NOTAM for RPAS to Nav Canada as well as the document allowing RPAS Advanced candidates to act as "Pilot in Command" for the Flight Review when planning their flight in controlled airspace. This is so even if they ARE NOT SFOC certified.
Clipboard and document organization skills are demonstrated by the RPAS instructor as well as manual flight skill sets.
Emergency procedures in RPAS are touched on as well including "Lost Link" procedures.
Flight Review Procedures, "A to E" are covered in this lecture.
In this final section we will cover the last 2 procedures "F and G" Subjects include what to do in a "fly-away" situations including reports to air traffic services. Landing and security procedures will involve a checklist and and orderly process with a time check. Secure RPAS into a safe case.
This lecture is a review and conclusion of all the important learning requirements for the Flight Review. Focus is on the "need to know" material, and the importance of pre-flight planning being filed.
In this lecture, we will go over the ATIS broadcast and learn of its importance while conducting operation in or around control zones. A demonstration of recording a ATIS broadcast will be shown as well as information on how to find your local reports, when to use a handheld VHF transceiver, and reporting to ATS. The content of an ATIS will be explained along with some examples and considerations RPAS pilots should make.
The course has been completed by a Transport Canada certified RPAS pilot who is also a designated Flight Reviewer. After some SFOC certified pilots failed the Flight Review for missing some basic fundamental practices in RPAS operation, Carlos thought it was best to conduct a course to spell out the basic requirements to prevent further failures.
However taking this course is not a requirement for the Flight Review.
This course goes point by point through procedures which are to be demonstrated by prospective professional RPAS Advanced pilots. These skills learned in this lesson are good for all drones pilots whether novice or skilled. Students will come out of this lesson better equipped to do safe and professional drones flights. Attachments include professional drones checklists you can model and adjust so that can suit your own.
The course will equip students with the tools they need to pass the Flight Review portion of the RPAS qualification with ease.
