Description

This interactive 1-hour course is designed to help you quickly and effectively build a solid foundation of the Japanese writing System. This course offers an easy and comprehensive approach, including practice in speaking and listening.

☆☆☆

Ever wanted to learn a new language that’s quite different from your own? Japanese has three types of scripts: hiragana, katakana, and kanji, and they can all be used in one sentence. Now, do you have to learn all of them? It depends on your purpose, but generally, yes. Should you learn them first before everything else?  It depends. If your short-term goal is to read or write, you will need to learn them from the beginning. If your short-term goal is speaking and listening, not necessarily. If you aim to understand and speak long sentences in the long run, knowing the scripts can be beneficial. You can start learning them anytime you’re ready or need to. Feel free to check out my website for free useful resources to learn Hiragana and Katakana.

In order to serve people with different purposes, and people who want to casually start learning but also want to build a solid foundation to build upon, I created this course.

Super Beginner-Friendly:

  • Easily differentiate the three Japanese characters as they are color-coded (blue for hiragana, green for katakana, and orange for kanji). Roman letters are also provided for added support.

Concise and Informative:

  • Essential information is hand-picked from linguistics textbooks and turned into easy-to-follow visual material for your intuitive understanding. (Please note linguistics terms are simplified in the course so you can get the image easily. If you have any questions, let me know!)

Interactive:

  • Designed to make you “think” and “experience”. There are also light role-playing exercises to get you ready for real conversations.

Focuses on Speaking and Listening:

  • Mimicking can help your mouth and brain remember the sound. You don't have to practice aloud if you're not comfortable, but you can give it a try and see how it goes. (Tip:D You can wear earphones and keep your voice slightly lower than the sample speech so you can still hear it and can adjust your speech to it.)

Uses Natural Expressions:

  • Learn to use Japanese as it is naturally spoken. Do you feel the Japanese sentences in your textbooks/apps are unnatural? For example, we don’t often say the words anata (you) and watashi (I) (as well as kare (he), kanojo (she), and karera (they)) in daily conversation, but in a lot of apps and materials, these are often used without context. With this course, you can practice natural expressions in context.

Practical:

  • Emphasis is on practical usage. Grammar rules are not a math equation that applies in all situations so it would be good to have a little more explanation with context on each structure.

Ready to Get Started?

Are you ready to join this 1-hour course and build a quick and solid foundation of your Japanese skills? You will learn basic Japanese in an easy, interactive, and practical way with a native teacher through light role-plays and short and in-depth explanations!

Feel free to ask any questions in the Q&A section in the course, or you can send me an email through my website.
