Description
Hello and welcome to my Spanish for Beginners Course!
I’m glad you are interested in learning the second most spoken language in the world!
Learning spanish with a grammar book, or even an audio book, can be a daunting, time consuming, task. Most language courses either focus too much on grammar content making it a super dry material, or they lack practical activities that make remembering words and rules more difficult.
How this course works
My years of teaching spanish, and my student feedback, has taught me that learning the practical uses of the language is the most effective way to understand even the most complicated concepts.
This doesn’t mean grammar is not important, it is, and by all means you have to understand the rules you need to follow, in order to speak and be understood.
Whether you are just curious about the language, thinking of visiting or moving to a spanish-speaking country, there are few things better than being able to communicate with locals in their own language.
With the material presented in this course you will be able to deal with (among many others) the following situations:
Greet and introduce yourself and others.
Give professional information about yourself
Talk about your daily life
Express sensations and feelings
Express needs, desires and preferences
Express opinions
Give and ask for directions when travelling
Express belonging and possession.
Describe people and places.
Read and understand Touristic Brochures
Learn differences between Spanish form Latin America and Spain
All of these topic are covered in dialogs that you can practice while getting confident in listening/reading comprehension.
If you are traveling and don’t have access to the course videos, I also provide you audio files of the course so you can listen to them at any time.
Spain’s Spanish or Latin American?
Many of my students ask me about the differences between traditional spanish and latin american spanish, notably the spanish spoken in Argentina and Uruguay
The differences are not that many, but, depending on what you are listening, or who you are talking to, you might come across some difference. We will talk about these as well. I try to keep a neutral spanish throughout the course, and in some dialogues I add my native argentinian accent.
Additional Resources
To help you further grasp the concepts, you will find many activities you can practice with, whenever you have time, all aimed at making it easier to remember and recalling the words and expressions when needed.
So welcome again to the wonderful world of Spanish!
Hope to see you in the course! :-)

Instructor
Hi everyone! My name is Ximena and I am a Professional Spanish Teacher, graduated from the ELE Internacional and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos programme. I also have a University Degree in Music Teaching and I am currently involved in everything that has to do with creating new teaching materials as well as research and investigation. I strongly believe that music and languages go together holding hands, because every language has its own intonation, melody and cadence. Life has given me the gift of being good at what I love to do, which I have been doing for almost 20 years now; teaching is my life and I am passionate about it.
