Meet your instructors!
In this video, Melanie shares a bit about her journey into Mindfulness as she goes from
being named little Miss "What's Next?"
to studying the concept of Time after finishing writing her first book
and in the process discovering Mindfulness
and eventually developing various tools and techniques to share this in a practical way with thousands of students across the globe.
This is your opportunity to share something about yourself with the rest of the students in this course. Tell us all about your goals and what you want to achieve. You can come back to this board and add more thoughts as you go through the course and achieve your goals. Seeing all the other students in the course will also motivate you and keep you going as you participate in this community of learning.

It is important to combat the negatives of constant device connectivity by putting yourself into Flight mode (disconnecting from your devices and technology) for a few hours every week. In this lesson, we discuss the challenges of our device dependency on our health, wellbeing and mindfulness and why the practice of disconnecting is beneficial based on how we were designed to operate.

how we can use awareness of posture, breathing and movement to give us valuable information about our state of being, our stress levels and our moods.
how to mindfully reconnect with your body in this moment
a special one-minute Mindful Stretching Routine developed for us by Registered Physiotherapist Ula Gillion to help us reset the tension that builds up in our muscles when we sit at our desks for long periods at a time.
In this lesson, we look at your internal body cycles and rhythms (including your ultradian and circadian rhythms) and three ways to align and schedule your day with these for easier peak performance.
Discover your own personal peak performance times by using the Peak performance tool at www.peakperformancequiz.com/ignite80 to figure out when you are naturally most productive.
In this lesson, we look at two ways to start tracking how focussed and productive you are being in your work life, how you are using your time and what your habits are regarding your work and internet usage and why it is important to be more aware of this.
Either download the Mindful time log worksheet to do this manually or use the initially free app Rescue Time (www.rescuetime.com) for a two-day digital audit. Then set aside some time for introspection using the third page of the worksheet to take a look at your Time Use Patterns and how they could be improved, even in small ways.

Mindfulness is a great antidote to a often counterproductive evolutionary tendency of ours to cascade small negative events through our value systems and overemphasise their importance - a built-in negativity bias.
In this lesson on Mindful mental hygiene, we learn how to restrict the meaning we are ascribing to a problem, mistake or perceived bad thing to just the present, by applying mindfulness to the research and teachings of Jordan Peterson and Daniel Kahneman.
Beyond the health risks which eventually will affect your productivity and happiness, stress and worry have another negative side effect and that is their role in affecting your brain mode.
Stress takes up mental bandwidth and switches our brains from Exploratory mode to Exploitatory mode (a type of autopilot).
