The PowerPoint 2013 practice file that you will use throughout the course are contained in the zip file PPT2013-Practice-Files.zip. Download the file to your PC or Mac and unzip the file. Once you unzip the file the practice files along with the Practice Checklists (Microsoft Word documents)will be in one folder.

PowerPoint 2013 includes several tools to help organize and arrange content on your slides. In this lecture you will learn about the layout of the Stage and the Backstage. The Stage includes tools such as the Ruler, Guides, and Gridlines. The Backstage allows you to perform actions such as saving, opening, printing, and sharing your presentations.
In PowerPoint 2013, all slides use a 16 by 9—or widescreen—aspect ratio. This new standard matches the aspect ratio used by widescreen TVs. Widescreen slides will work best with widescreen monitors and projectors. However, if you need your presentation to fit a standard 4-by-3 screen, it's easy to change the slide size to fit. In this lesson, you will learn how to change the slide size, format the background and adjust placeholders.
