  • Introduction: What this course will do you for both personally & professionally3:46

"Speech is power; speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel" Ralph Waldo Emerson

Speaking in public is the most amazing form of art, without any music or band, stage props or instruments.  You are all alone to either connect with an audience or fail to do so.

Public Speaking is a special privilege

Having the ability to speak under any circumstances whether on stage or at networking event is crucial for your success in both personal and business life. Communication skills are essential in all areas of life and will give you a huge boost of confidence being able to walk into a crowd and carry on a conversation or address people from a podium or stage.

  • Story: The Power Of Telling Your Story6:02

"The most critical component to being a great speaker and leader is telling your own story" This is so people have the ability to latch on to you in a more personal way.

You don't want to just re-tell your story, you want to re-live your story. Tell it with the same passion and excitement like it just happened.

  • Winning over the audience and getting them on your side3:06

"Never quit something with great longterm potential just because you can't deal with the stress of the moment" Seth Godin

It's important to get the audience on your side sooner then later.  This can be done with call to actions like if I was speaking in California I would say "Isn't everyone proud to live in such a great state as California?"

Or "if your happy to be alive this morning say "YES","

There have been times I've mentioned local sports teams or anything relatable to the audience and city I'm currently speaking in.  I've even gone as far to eat at a local restaurant to and mention it to show that I'm embracing their culture.  This goes along way.

I once got up on stage and shout how are you doing California and I was actually in Arizona.

  • Know Your Specific Theme or Topic Your Are Sharing4:12

"Poor preparation equals poor presentation" From the first word out of your mouth to the last and walk off that platform your audience will know how well you prepared.

  • Quality Not Quantity2:56

You can't cover every aspect of any given topic in one speech so therefore it is important to focus on a specific point and create boundaries for yourself.  Otherwise you jumble the message and not drive your point home as hard as you could of.  You don't want to confuse your audience but rather train, inspire and educate.  Not overwhelm and jump around.

Refine and edit your message down to the most fundamental points and make sure to leave time for Q & A.

  • Sincerity: Speaking With Sincerity Will Show The Audience You Care2:56

"People don't know how much you care until you tell them"

When getting a point across people need to know that you care about them and are sincere about the subject you are lecturing on. Speak with a tone of sincerity and win the hearts of your audience.

  • Confidence: You Must Show Confidence Even If Inside Your Nervous5:21

"believing in yourself and the message you have to share, that's confidence" Confidence comes from believing in 100% of what your speaking about. Loving the topic your talking about will put air under your wings and authority when speaking.

    "inhale Confidence, Exhale Doubt"

  • Presence: You Must Be Present In Your Mind & Thoughts Giving It 100%2:34

"a double minded man is unstable in all his ways"

When you hit that stage you should be giving it no less then a 100% focused attention. Clear your mind before you go out there and get rid of all other distractions. Try not to talk to anyone before going on stage so that you don't get stirred up about something completely different. Be present with the people in the room and your surroundings. Don't think about anything else and relax..

  • Closing With Power4:27

“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.” - Jim Rohn

You want to close your speech no a high note.  Sometimes this is by reading a poem, hitting another quote or sharing a story.  This is sometimes with a high tone in your voice, quite or smooth.

"a fighter isn't someone never fails, a fighter is someone who never quits"

"if someone else has done it, you can do it too, if no one else has done it you can be the first"

  • Practice Activity 1 of 21:28

#1 Write down your story and practice telling it into a recorder or film yourself live

#2 Write down what your main topic or theme is for speaking.. Is it fitness related and can you narrow it down even more.  Like losing weight or eating healthy.  Example: I could say I'm the money guy but what is it specifically.  Dave Ramsey is the money guy but he narrowed it down to helping people get out of debt.  What do you want to be known for?

Requirements

  • The desire to improve their public speaking

Description

As the artist and speaker Chris Greenwood I've spoken in over 21 different countries on stages all over the world.

I love the power of the spoken word and the ability it has to motivate someone to make positive change in their life.

I have spoken in jails, colleges, high schools, businesses as well as clubs and bars sometimes even having to use a translator so they could understand my message.

Learning to public speak with confidence has changed my personal and my business life helping me to earn more income and respect among my peers.

This course is not theory but real life proven principles I have used to become a better speaker and engage my audience.

There is no music or band playing behind you when you enter the stage to speak.

You are alone to either fail or succeed at delivering a message to your audience and they will know whether you prepared or not.

This course will help give you many new ideas and principles you can practice and apply to your next speaking engagement.

I wish you nothing but success and remember to have fun!
