Description
This course is a one stop shop to prep for the math portion of the new and redesigned SAT. I have spent almost an entire year studying and categorizing all of the math SAT problems given in the College Board's Official SAT Study Guide. Additionally, I have personally solved innumerable practice problems given on the Khan Academy website. Why? Because Khan Academy has officially partnered with the College Board, making their SAT questions highly accurate with respect to authentic SAT math problems.
From the analytics I gathered, I created a specially tailored crash course to educate my students in every single aspect of the SAT math sections.
What separates this course from all the other courses out there is that it is "frequency based." What does that mean? It means you can study smarter, not harder. You can pick and choose topics based on how often they will manifest on the exam. For example, after simply watching videos on the first 2 topics out of 23, "Deriving a Formula" and "Data Analysis," you will be able to cover material that will likely constitute nearly 24% of the exam! For students looking to maximize their efforts and focus primarily on what's most important, this is a one of a kind approach to tackling SAT related topics. Here's what is included:
Nearly 700 practice problems specially made to target SAT math critical concepts
All necessary rules and operations condensed into just over two hours of Critical Concept lectures
Seven hours worth of video content, including explanations of rules along with guided tutorials of detailed practice problems
Percentage-based frequency breakdowns of question types
Custom made accompanying music to keep the learning environment engaging
Who this course is for:
- This course is meant for anyone seeking an augmented SAT math score. Unlike the verbal portion of the exam, it is possible to learn and master all of the relevant math concepts in a relatively short amount of time. For students who are facing a TIME CRUNCH, this course is especially well-tailored because it is organized based on frequency. For example, the first 25% of the course provides all necessary information to answer more than half of the SAT math questions.
Instructor
I love math; I truly do. Since as long as I can remember, I've always found it fascinating, interesting, and highly rewarding. But what I love even more than ripping through a problem set is sharing my passion for math with ambitious students.
I've been teaching math to other students ever since I was in middle school. Throughout my academic and professional life, I have continuously set time aside to help kids understand all sorts of math concepts. Why? Because math is a subject matter that I not only enjoy thoroughly, but one that I am able to adeptly teach. No matter who you are or what your educational level, I am 100% confident that I can bring you clarity in whatever math subject you are studying. I have helped all ages of kids learn arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, algebra 2, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus. If you are a motivated student shooting for excellence, I want to teach you.
From kindergarten through high school, I attended a private school for the gifted in the midwest. My classmates were extremely bright and very passionate about learning. Despite the stiff competition, I was the top math student in my class throughout my entire primary education. This was partially because I had a natural affinity for math, but also due in large part to my focus and diligent practice. I loved math and I wanted to be the absolute best. Accordingly, I pushed myself harder than anyone else in order to understand the material thoroughly. Because of my careful attention to detail and devotion to understanding mathematics, I cultivated an uncanny ability to convey the concepts in a clear, digestible manner. I understand what it takes to achieve academic and professional excellence because I have walked the path myself.
After high school, I attended the University of Michigan where I majored in computer science and economics. I then worked as a software developer for nearly three years before attending law school at Northwestern University. Because of my software expertise, I went on to become a patent litigator at two of the best intellectual property law practices in the country. During my legal career, I worked with a number of fortune 500 companies who needed help protecting their intellectual property. After practicing law for four years, I finally realized in 2013 that I had to make a change. Patent law wasn't my end all be all. So what was I to do? "If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose." It was that very sentiment led me back to math education as a full time career.
I have taught core math subjects to an array of students at both private schools and inner city public schools. I have seen every level of academic proficiency and have learned one beautiful truth: anyone can be an excellent math student. There's no quick fix and no secret recipe; you simply need (1) a great teacher, (2) good study habits, and (3) a willingness to work. If you can nail down these three components, the sky is the limit!
