Now that Power BI is installed, it’s time to explore!  In this video, we’ll take a guided tour of Power BI’s user interface (UI). Think of this as getting to know the controls of a new video game — you want to know what every button does before you start playing!

We’ll start with the Home screen and understand the three main views in Power BI:

Report View: This is where you’ll create beautiful charts, graphs, and dashboards. It’s like your canvas for visualizing data.

Data View: Here’s where you can see the raw data you’ve imported — like looking at a neat, organized table of numbers and text.

Model View: This view helps you connect different tables and show how they relate — like building a family tree for your data!

I’ll explain what each button and option does so you won’t feel lost when working on your own. You’ll learn how to import data, save your work, and access tools that make your reports look polished and professional.

By the end of this lesson, the Power BI interface will feel familiar, and you’ll be ready to start building your first visualizations. Let’s get comfortable with the tools so we can start creating magic!

Messy data? No problem!  In this video, we’ll dive into Power BI’s Transform tab — your ultimate toolkit for cleaning and shaping data so it’s ready for analysis. Think of this as tidying up your toys before you start playing — when everything’s in its right place, it’s way more fun!

Throughout the lesson, we’ll practice building parts of our Ecommerce Sales Dashboard, so you’ll see real-world examples in action. Don’t worry if it feels like a lot at first — I’ll guide you through each step slowly and clearly.

It’s time to get creative!  In this video, we’ll learn how to create one of the most popular and useful visuals in Power BI — the Bar Chart. Bar charts help you compare different categories and see trends clearly. They’re simple, colorful, and perfect for showing things like sales by region, product performance, and more.

We’ll start by adding a basic bar chart to our report. I’ll show you how to choose the right data fields, adjust the size and position, and customize colors and labels. You’ll learn how to sort your data so the chart tells a clear story and how to highlight key points so they stand out.

But we won’t stop there! I’ll also teach you some advanced tricks — like adding data labels, adjusting axis settings, and formatting your chart so it looks professional. We’ll make sure your bar chart isn’t just informative — it’s beautiful too!

As always, we’ll use data from our Ecommerce Sales Dashboard project, so you’ll see how bar charts work in real-world scenarios.

What’s better than one chart? Two charts!  In this video, we’ll combine two powerful visuals — the Donut Chart and the Bar Chart — to tell more detailed data stories.

We’ll start with the Donut Chart. It’s a fun, circular chart that shows how different parts make up a whole — like what percentage of sales come from each product category. I’ll show you how to create a donut chart, choose your data, and format it so it looks great.

Then, we’ll bring back the Bar Chart to show comparisons between different categories. We’ll learn how to use both charts together so they complement each other and provide a complete view of your data.

You’ll also see how to link these charts so when you click one, the other updates automatically. This makes your report more interactive and user-friendly — a must-have skill for any Power BI project.

Sometimes, you just want one big, important number to stand out — and that’s where Card Visuals come in.  In this video, we’ll learn how to create card visuals to highlight key metrics like total sales, average revenue, or customer count.

I’ll show you how to pick the right data field, format the card, and make sure it grabs attention on your report. You’ll learn how to adjust font sizes, colors, and alignment so your cards look clean and professional.

We’ll also talk about when to use cards and how they help viewers quickly see important numbers without digging through charts and tables.

Using data from our Ecommerce Sales Dashboard, we’ll create several card visuals to showcase top-level insights.

Let’s add some magic!  In this final video, we’ll learn how to use Slicers — a special visual that makes your Power BI reports interactive. A slicer lets users filter data with just a click, making it easier to explore and analyze.

We’ll start by adding a simple slicer to our report. I’ll show you how to choose the right field, format the slicer, and position it for easy use. Then, we’ll learn how to link the slicer to multiple visuals so charts and tables update instantly when you make a selection.

You’ll also see how to use different slicer types — like dropdowns, checkboxes, and date pickers — to create a user-friendly dashboard.

As always, we’ll use our Ecommerce Sales Dashboard to practice, so you’ll build real-world skills along the way.
