Learn to use finesse in bridge to maximize tricks, with direct and diamond finesses, high-card leads, and the rule of 11 in no-trump play.
observe bidding and play of a bridge hand from opening one spade to a one notrump contract, including lead choices, top-of-short play, and counting to win seven tricks.
We launch onto an online application called Bridge Base Online where we are able to look at a couple of hands and play them out online. Learners can see the bidding taking place as well as getting their first glimpse on how a hand is played . There are so many small things to remember when playing a hand out to maximize trick taking potential. One of the techniques we use is called "Top of the Short, Never get caught". Another is 'cover an honour with an honour'. Understanding the oppposition's lead (the first card they play) is hugely helpful in this game . Was it a singleton (1 card in a suit)? Was it a doubleton (2 cards in a suit)? Was it a top of touching honours (A K )? Was it a mud lead (middle up down of a useless 3 card suit) ?

Come take a look inside this course as I talk you through some basic fundamentals of card play.
