Explore Mondrian's artistic journey and his minimalist paintings, decode his style and color palettes, build two class projects with patterns and your personal touch, and learn about supplies.

Choose a square or any paper shape, apply a crisp border with washi tape, and use Sakura Pigma Micron pens with Ohuhu brush pens to create Mondrian-inspired zentangle abstracts.

Making the Grid10:10
Create a mondrian-inspired grid by using a ruler and pencil, mark from the paper edge with three markings, draw parallel lines of varying thickness, then color with a black pen.
Adding Solid Colors2:08
Apply solid color blocks to the Mondrian-style grid, using blue, red, and yellow to achieve opaque or watercolor finishes and prepare for adding tangles in the next lesson.

Create a Mondrian-inspired Zentangle composition by layering fall weave and Hollibaugh tangles on color blocks, balancing red, blue, and yellow for contrast and cohesion.

Add gray and red, blue blocks around a Mondrian-inspired heart, keeping the heart as focal. Place yellow pops inside the heart, keep the background white, and use a black pen.
