For our custom font we want to find a font that we will use as the base, Lets also look at what we are heading towards for the final image.
Lets try out a few fonts and select a good one!
We don't really want to use a default font, we could but we will not lets modify this font and make it our own!
Let's do some cleanup on the modified text.
We want to get the font into Photoshop and make sure it is set up properly let's do it.
We now want to get this into Photoshop so we can do final prep work, readying it for ZBrush.
We now need to take the edge off our text templates we do this by blurring believe it or not this will give us a sharper cleaner extraction inside ZBrush.
Lets now set up ZBrush and create the base for our text!
We will now get ZBrush to perform a simple UV unwrap so we can confidently apply our Alpha text.
Lets now create the main text using extractions inside ZBrush!
I want the text to feel like its indented into the book itself this means indenting the book cover.
Lets now extrude the text to give it more depth!
We just jump forward to show you what we will be doing next and what to expect.
Lets cleanup and finish up with the text.
OK let us now finish up by smoothing out the book cover indentation.
In this lecture we will look at the detailing we will do and also show you how you can add flourishes to your text if you wish!
We need to affix the wires into place to hold the text to the book cover adding to the realism. in this lecture we will use ZSpheres to create our wire base!
Having a ton of sub tools is inevitable when doing complex work but we can still group some of it with similar attributes into the same sub tool, by applying poly groups we still get the flexibility to be able to isolate groups.
Lets create the support wires.
Lets now merge these wires into a sub tool.
Just wanted to show you another way to add detail in this we will create wires that run over and follow existing geometry, its all about ZSketch!
Using basic tool meshes we will create our first batch of stones.
Speed tip for production or repetitive tasks.
Using Surface noise we will quickly add texture to our stones!
In this lecture we will use a simple mesh to create a cut stone look!
Adding a clasp to our Gems.
We have used this before so lets use it again to add surface noise to our book jacket this time using light box presets, please note I am not happy with this and change it later, don't worry I show you how!
I will show you a few methods to paint our book jacket cover we will go over the base coat and applying cavity mask details.
Lets paint the wires.
In this lesson we will look at separating the clasp and the jewels out so we can apply a material and colour in dependably.
In ZBrush we can use spotlight to directly paint imported textures straight onto our sub tools lets do it!
Lets apply a cool material to our stones selectively!
In this lesson I will show you how to import into the scene a previous stage ZTool, this is something you might do from time to time, as I was not happy with the book jacket I decided to bring in an earlier version and redo this part.
Just wanted to add a little wear and tear to the wires I will use Surface noise to do this quickly.
In ZBrush we want to export out to an exact size and also it would be great to reload the same view as well! we can do this using the doc size and the Zapp Link feature
note: the Zapp link was not playing well so kept importing the view upside down, however it was still the same exact view on export please play around with this its a big part being able to get your image back just in case you need to re render or add a new pass!
In this lesson we will look at setting up lighting and the render settings as well as outputting the renders once completed!
Lets now take our exported render passes into Photoshop.
Clown pass is great for being able to select and isolate parts of the render, lets look at it in action.
In this lesson we will use layer masks and adjustment layers as well as filters to control the look of our final image.
There will be times when you need to render a brand new pass maybe to add reflection or spectacular to an image I will show you how now.
Well this is the last lecture I really hope you have enjoyed this course we covered a lot of stuff, this should prepare you to work on more complex sculpts.
Well done on completing this and happy sculpting!!
In this lecture I will show you how to load the document the ZTool and the custom view, handy to know if you needed to re render or add a new pass.
