The Distance and Direction of stride play an important role for a pitcher to have a repeatable delivery.

Tim Lincecum is a current MLB pitcher that has an extremely long stride.

Steve Carlton and Nolan Ryan are Hall of Fame pitchers that also utiized a long stride.

In this course we will discuss what an achieveable stride length should be for your pitchers.

  • Pitching KRP 4 Release Point 2:20

Little League Elbow is a very common injury among youth baseball players.

Arm angle, arm slot and release point are three components of the delivery that can lead to arm injuries.

Proper arm angle, arm slot and release point are imperative to having a safe, effecient and effective delivery.

    • Arm Angle is determined based on the elbow relative to the shoulder.
    • Arm Slot is determined based on the wrist relative to the elbow
    • Release point needs to occur in front of the body rather than behind the body

  • Pitching KRP 5 Follow Through 4:15

Finishing pitches is not just a good way to improve accuracy and velocity, it will also help pitchers avoid arm injuries.

    • The follow through needs to be online to the target to improve accuracy
    • Using the latismus dorsi during follow through will reduce stress to the shoulder during the follow through
    • Allowing the back hip and leg to finish high will help pitchers gain velocity on their fast ball by using their large muscle groups
  • Pitching Grips 3:51

Common pitching grips for baseball players include:

    • 4-Seam Fastball
    • 2-Seam Fastball
    • Change-up
    • Circle Change-up
    • Curveball
    • Slider
    • Cut Fastball
