Description

Piping Material Specification(PMS) is one of the most critical document to be generated by the mechanical engineer carrying out EPC of chemical projects. This document has to be prepared jointly with process engineer when developing the P&ID since these details are required for pipe line numbering and is referred to by all stake holders and in particular by the instrumentation engineer who is involved in generation of P&ID.

PMS is the master document for finalizing the specification for pipes, valves, fittings, flanges, gaskets and fasteners and also for selection of MOC , rating and end connections of field instruments like control / safety valves, flow meters, transmitters etc. Hence, this document has to be generated diligently to ensure accuracy as this impacts the procurement process and has cost implications. This document is essential for input in the Legends & Symbols sheet created for the project.

This course gives a step by step approach for generation of this critical document, the codes and standards to be referred and gives samples of detailed templates to be prepared. Preparation of this document is done in consultation with Process engineer or Process consultant. An accurate PMS is a must for all projects since this impacts the procurement as the inter connection with piping and instrumentation is involved and has to be coordinated to ensure proper  installation of all  instruments.

Who this course is for:

  • Fresh mechanical / Piping engineers in EPC companies executing chemical projects
