Be a Musician Through Piano Improvisation. Basics - 24 keys.
What you'll learn
- IMPROVISE THEIR OWN MUSIC on the piano or keyboard, in all 24 musical keys.
- WRITE SONGS easily - using what they have learned through the improvisations
- KNOW each of the 24 musical keys inside out, they will have become your “friends” - you can take with you wherever you go.
- USE THIS METHOD as a sort of musical “shorthand" wherever there is a piano-keyboard around - quickly and easily.
Requirements
- You can start from scratch. No previous knowledge is required. But advanced pianists, too, have gained from this unexpectedly simple approach to improvising.
- You will need: an accoustic piano or an electric piano, (with touch sensitive keys) and, ideally, a sustain pedal.
- An interest in expressing yourself through music.
- Even if you have never played the piano before and you think you will never be able to - follow this course and the miracle WILL happen! - in the very first lesson! I've proved it over 25 years of teaching this method.
Description
Enjoy the freedom of making music through:
- Improvising.
- Songwriting.
- You can but you DON"T HAVE TO read music.
- Very little study needed.
- Its easy: A sort of "musical shorthand".
- A technically solid musical foundation. At the same time as having creative fun you will also be learning thoroughly the nuts and bolts of music: using, what I call, the ENGINE of music: the different keys, (music's "coloring box"). With this solid, theoretical ground beneath you, you can grow as a musician in any direction, as far as you wish: classical, jazz, rock 'n roll, you name it...
- For beginners and advanced musicians. There are even developed pianists who don't know how to improvise ... widen your horizons - welcome to my course.
- Of the 24 keys, you can learn as many or as few as you like.
- How the Course is structured:
I use, what I call a "4 Step Routine". This same routine is applied to each key.
Each section covers one key and is divided into 4 lectures, (the 4 steps):
- The main part: scales, chords, and the first improvisation - in video form.
- Step 1 in text and diagram form.
- Improvising melody only, over a recording of my guitar backing.
- A simple song you play and sing along with me on video.
This same format is used for each key: (section).
Who this course is for:
- All levels.
Instructor
Tony has been teaching, performing and composing music and songs since he was 16 years old.
He has a B.A. Honours Degree, in Creative Arts, including Creative Writing, Music, Visual Arts, Dance and Drama. He has worked in theatre and education both in UK and in Mainland Europe.
As well as music, Tony is also a visual artist, painter and sculptor.
He lives in Amsterdam. Netherlands.
It began when I was 12 yrs.: playing music with my brothers in our back room, on piano and guitars, violin, trombone and old tins!
" - back then, I made up my own music by guess work and enthusiasm and it was great fun!
... but I came up against a barrier - my guess work wouldn't take me beyond a certain point - very frustrating... something was missing... (I didn't realize at the time but one of my lacks was: scales!)...
... I started searching for the missing pieces. I studied classical piano and guitar, singing and music theory.
I listened to recordings, and worked out every style of music. I got inside other musicians heads!
I performed solo and in bands. I played bass, piano and guitar and keyboard. I sang other peoples songs and wrote my own - you name it - I did it!
... and I have never lost sight of my roots: the reasons I originally wanted to know this stuff:
to play spontaneous, rich, immediate music...TO EXPRESS MYSELF.
- Its this hands-on, highly usable, accessible approach, I bring to you now.
- its as if I'm showing my 12 year old self what he didn't know, back then.
- in a form he can understand and use creatively - rocking with his friends, playing piano and guitar: Jimi Hendrix, Beethoven and Chopin, writing and singing his own songs - all in a fully realized way...
- using techniques that give him wings to fly!
- I bring you this down-to-earth, music-making system, in a package I would have liked, in a way I could have used, when I first started out.
- the tools I needed back then - I give to you now, here on this site - so you can go to the musical places now, I wish I could have gone to, back then.
Have a great, fun journey!"
