Are you interested in learning to play piano, but not sure where to start? Maybe you want to quickly learn some songs and are dizzied by how many courses there are out there - this is your place to begin learning your instrument! In this introductory course, I'll take you through the necessities you need to sit down at the keys and play songs with your friends. We'll begin by covering half steps, whole steps and how to construct chords using them. When we're comfortable with those basics, then we'll start learning chord shapes note-by-note, with close-up views of my hands and images to help us learn, and applying what we're learning to popular songs.
Finally, I'll set those who want to continue learning piano up for success by covering a two-handed technique called "root notes" that bring our songs to life.
Knowing the chords, how to build them and root notes is great, but we still need to know how to find specific chords to the songs we love. So, we'll dive into how to find the chords to your favorite songs online, and you'll be ready to play!

Hey there!
My name is Jacob, I'm an audio/visual producer and teacher on the East Coast of the USA. I have been self-employed since 2014 working both as a musician and photographer/cinematographer.

THE QUALIFICATIONS:
I attended Berklee College of Music in 2014 and began teaching multiple instruments in a local music studio. I then became an audio engineer at that same studio, eventually partnering with companies such as PreSonus and opening my own space in 2020. During this I was heavily engaged in cinema - filming commercials for businesses, music videos, and taking engagement/real estate shoots.
