Beginner piano lessons overview introduces reading music, the two-part system, right-hand melodies, left-hand chords in C, F, and G, and a graded, practice-focused lesson path.
Practice 15–30 minutes daily, seven days a week, to absorb lessons quickly. Divide time between current study, past lesson revision, and new material, using a metronome to develop time sense.
Master the musical alphabet A–G, read notes on the staff with treble and bass clefs, and explore note values and the grand staff for piano.
Learn the four basic piano requirements for beginners: read notes on the grand staff, recognize symbols, locate notes on the keyboard, and use correct fingers, with fingerings varying by arranger.
Familiarize the piano keyboard around middle C, learn proper sitting with curved fingers and finger numbering, then practice two-hand exercises with a metronome at slow tempo.
Master the quarter note in middle C on a 4/4 tempo using a 60 bpm metronome, counting one, two, three, four across bars and measures.
Locate note d on the grand staff and play c and d with the second and first fingers using the quarter note, 4/4 timing, metronome, and repeat signs.
Learn to read and play the notes C and D with half and quarter notes in 4/4 time, counting and holding notes through the bar, using a metronome.
Learn the note E on the grand staff and the piano, played with the right-hand third finger; practice reading C, D, and E with quarter and half notes in 4/4.
Learn the whole note in 4/4 time, holding four beats, using fingers 1–3 on C, D, and E, with In the Light of the Moon and Merrily, repeats across bars.
Study the notes f and g on the grand staff and piano, learn the quarter rest, and practice crystal rock exercise with c, d, e, and f using a metronome.
Learn about musical rests—whole, half, quarter, and eighth—and count them in 4/4 on the grand staff with a metronome, using Good Evening, Friends and Crystal Rock.
Identify note g on the treble staff and play it with the right-hand finger, practicing c d e f g with Ode to Joy and Aura Lee in 4/4 time.
Learn the C major chord and G7 by placing the left-hand fingers on C, E, and G, playing them together with the right-hand melody to a 4/4 beat via metronome.
Master the G7 chord on piano by locating B, F, and G on the grand staff, fingers 5-2-1 left hand, and playing evenly to a metronome in 4/4.
Practice the C major and G7 chords. Coordinate finger movements with a four-bar metronome, with the fifth finger moving from C to B and the second finger playing F.
Practice each part separately—the right-hand melody and left-hand chords—then play them together, counting slowly and evenly with a metronome to read notes from the bass staff to the treble staff.
Learn to play the piano using both hands by coordinating held chords and moving notes, counting four-beat measures, and practicing hands separately before combining, with a metronome at 60 bpm.
Learn to read and play the traditional Lightly Row by practicing the right hand melody and left hand chords separately, then combine them in 4/4 with a metronome.
Explore 3/4 time signature, its waltz feel, and the dotted half note through a simple exercise with right and left hands, using C major and G7 chords with a metronome.
Practice reading the Austrian Waltz by following right-hand notes and rests, then join with the left-hand chords of C major and G7 using a steady metronome.
Learn to read and play 'Beautiful brown eyes' in 3/4 time with a metronome, counting 1-2-3, and practice until finger movements and chords feel natural.
Explore how a tie connects two notes of the same pitch, showing when to play the first note and hold for the combined duration, including tied notes and chords.
Learn to read and play rose from the south in 3/4 time, using dotted half notes and tied chords across three pages, with a metronome and a patient, simple approach.
This course is designed for students who want to learn how to play the piano properly using The "Two-Part System." No previous music knowledge or piano playing experience required.
The "Two-Part System" is a comprehensive and progressive approach in learning how to play the piano by mastering the right hand capability covering the 12 natural notes (from the Middle C to the higher G in the second octave) and two enharmonic notes, namely (F# and Bb).
At the start of Lesson 5, basic chord shapes are introduced for the left hand to learn and master. In this lesson, the concentration is shifted to the left hand, learning the basic chord shapes and practicing the changing between two chords by playing very common piano pieces. At the end of Lesson 11, both hands shall be able to play simple traditional tunes with easy arrangements concentrating on the first 5 natural notes (middle C to G) for the right hand and the three basic chord shapes for the left hand (Root position of C Major, First Inversion of G7, and Second Inversion of F Major). Starting Lesson 12, a new fingering pattern is introduced to the right hand to learn how play the notes, A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Alongside these notes is the introduction of additional chords for the left hand starting with D7, C7, and Bb in different hand positions. In Lesson 13, the eighth note is being introduced for the right hand, with the application of the broken chords for the left hand.
Some of the main playing instructions are included in the lessons covering legato, staccato, lead-in notes, first and second endings, arpeggios, chord inversions, scales and key signatures.
At the end of Lesson 31, the student shall be able to learn how to read and play fifty different songs with easy arrangements.
