In this lesson I discuss how to save files as well as common file types and the advantages or disadvantages of each.
In this lesson I discuss what meta data is, how it is useful and why you need to know what it is.
In this lesson I demonstrate how to add metadata to your files.
This shows you how to import a photo into Photopea, straighten, crop and save your work.
In this tutorial I show you how to fix cracks and stains in a photograph using the healing brush, spot healing brush, patch tool and the clone stamp tool.
Here I show you a fun way to be creative with type using layer effects and saving them as layer styles. The great thing about this technique is it is non-destructive and remains editable. Even after creating some styled type, if you notice a misspelling or want to change the text in anyway you can always do that just as long as you save your files as a PSD or a TIFF.
Here I answer a question from a student about how to install fonts into Photopea
Working with Layers is an important part of digital imaging. It allows you to a significant amount of flexibility when combining multiple images and working non-destructively.
Here I explain how we will be doing this project of creating a decorative plate of breakfast food. I have included a file of images that you can use but feel free to find you own images.
Here I show you how to get started on this project of making an artistic breakfast and more importantly how to use selections tools.
Here I demonstrate how to use the Ellipse Select tool to remove the background on a circular plate. I also demonstrate how to change the color of that plate as well as the use of the content aware fill.
In this lesson I cover the quick selection tool as well as the eraser.
In this lesson I demonstrate how you can combine different selection tools to make better selections.
Here we put the final touches on our project by creating drop shadows.
In this video I explain what adjustments are. I also show demonstrate how do make adjustments non-destructively with adjustment layers and smart filters.
Here I demo how to use the curves adjustment to set white, gray and black points to quickly color correct your images.
Here we will work non-destructively with layer masks. In stead of deleting portions of an image we will hide them with a layer mask.
Here is a fun little project where you can put some of your new skill to work. I demonstrate how you can use a digital camera or phone to take multiple images of yourself in a scene where you will appear to interact with yourself. You will then use the technique of using layer masks that we learned in the previous video to composite the images.
Here I demonstrate how to take two images and auto align them, then expose the best parts of the two images. It is a way to taking two ok images and making one good one. For example you have a family photo but in one image Uncle Don's eyes are closed and in another Sue is not smiling. You can easily combine the two similar images and make one nice photo.
This video is a bit long, so I broke it into 2 videos. Here I demonstrate a simple photo manipulation from start to finish. Portions of this lesson are will repeat techniques that are covered in previous videos like, removing a subject from a background and selecting hair so feel free to skip over those parts if you don't need the review. In this lesson demonstrate, selecting an object, the refine edge tool and adjusting the color of an image. I also cover how to open up a Smart Object and make changes from within the Smart Object.
This video is a bit long, so I broke it into 2 videos. This is part 2 where I demonstrate a simple photo manipulation from start to finish. If you don't already have the working files you can find those in the previous lesson. In this lesson I demonstrate creating cast shadows and adding dust by using the add noise filter.
If you add a drop shadow to an image it can give it the effect of looking like an image is cut out and paste floating on top of an image. If you want to bring an image into another and make it look like it belongs, if other images have cast shadows you have to create your own to match the surrounding images.
Here I demonstrate how to use the quick selection tool to make a selection. Then we activate the Refine Edge Tool to select fine hairs in a photograph. This technique will help you to make what would otherwise be impossible selections.
In this lesson I show you how to use the Puppet Warp tool. I have included a photo that you can follow along with but I don't have rights to distribute the photo that I used in my demo.
Here I explain how spacing and flow works with a brush.
This course is designed to teach you how to use Photopea, a free browser based photo editing software. The course is created on an Apple computer, however most functions are identical on as those on a PC or Chromebook. The most notable difference are the key commands which I will make note of while working.
I will teach you techniques that I have learned over the years while working as a professional graphic artist. Photopea is a surprisingly robust free software that has a remarkably similar set of tools and interface to industry leading software. The focus is on the essential tools you need to learn to edit and manipulate photographs on a professional level. My goal is to teach you the basics and teach you to do them well.
You will learn about Layers and how to use them effectively, you’ll learn to work non-destructively, you’ll learn to make clean selections as well as how to color correct your images.
Even if you have access to other software, Photopea can help in a pinch, while on the road or away from you computer, because all you need to do it upload your photo to the web and start editing.
Check out some of the free videos. If you like what you see join the course! I hope to see you on the inside!
