PgMP® Application Submission Guidelines

This course is designed to help experienced PMP® professionals understand how PMI expects program experience to be articulated in the PgMP® application.

• This is not a Program Management theory course.

• It is a focused, application-oriented guide to help you correctly position your real-world experience for PgMP® approval.

What this course covers

1. Program Management Concepts – Only What Matters for the Application

The course briefly explains key Program Management domains—Strategy , Leadership, and Governance — strictly from the perspective of PgMP® application writing, not course coverage.

PMI is not interested in definitions, jargon, or textbook explanations in your application.
This course helps you understand what PMI actually looks for.

2. PgMP® Application Context and PMI Expectations

You will learn:

• Why project descriptions fail in PgMP® applications

• How PMI differentiates program leadership from project management

• How to frame your experience in strategic, governance, and leadership terms

There is a reason there are over 1.5 million PMP® credential holders worldwide, but fewer than 5,000 PgMP® credential holders.
The PgMP® application requires a different mindset, language, and structure.

3. Identifying the Right Scenarios for PgMP® Application Summaries

The PgMP® application requires you to document experience across Strategy, Leadership, and Governance domains.

This course guides you to:

• Identify 3–4 strong, defensible program scenarios per domain

• Select scenarios that demonstrate decision-making, integration, and benefits realization

• Describe what you did, why you did it, and how it aligned with program objectives

• Anchor your experience using appropriate frameworks, tools, or techniques

A bonus recap session (“PgMP® in a Breathless View”) is included to help you quickly consolidate core program management concepts relevant to the application.
