Introduction to what the students will learn in the class.
Students will be able to identify the horizon line and vanishing point. Students will create 10 boxes in 1 point perspective. Some boxes will be closed. Some boxes will be open. Some boxes will be see through. Students will draw objects in some of the boxes. Some boxes will be over the horizon line. Some boxes will be under the horizon line. Some boxes will be on top of the horizon line.
Students will draw a horizon line and 2 vanishing points. Students will draw 10 boxes in between the 2 vanishing points. Some boxes will be closed. Some boxes will be open. Some boxes will be see through. Students will draw objects in some of the boxes. Some boxes will be over the horizon line. Some boxes will be under the horizon line. Some boxed will be on top of the horizon line.
Students draw 3 buildings in 3 point perspective, looking up towards a 3rd vanishing point. Students will draw the buildings over the horizon line. Students will draw lines or windows on the building.
Students draw 3 buildings in 3 point perspective, looking down towards a 3rd vanishing point. The buildings will be under the horizon line, so you see the top of the building.
Students will do a sketch using the fencepost method. This method shows how to create things that are equally spaced in perspective.
Students will do a sketch using atmospheric perspective. Objects that are closer to the viewer appear in focus and in higher contrast (darker darks and lighter lights). As objects continue into the distance, they have less and less contrast and appear blurrier.
Students will complete a grid in 1 point perspective. This can later be used for a floor or bricks on a wall in a 1 point perspective drawing.
Students will complete a grid in 2 point perspective. This can later be used for a floor in 2 point perspective, or bricks on a wall in 2 point perspective.
Students will complete a 1 point perspective drawing using the skills that they have learned.
Students will complete a 2 point perspective drawing using the skills that they have learned.
This class is for beginners. Students will learn basic perspective drawing skills. Students will learn about the horizon line and vanishing point. Students will learn how to create boxes in 1 and 2 point perspective. Some boxes will be over the horizon line. Some boxes will be under the horizon line. Some boxes will be on top of the horizon line. Students will draw objects in some of the boxes. Students will learn how to create 3 point perspective buildings looking up. The buildings will be over the horizon line. Students will learn how to create 3 point perspective buildings looking down. These buildings will be under the horizon line, so you can see the top. Students will learn how to use the fencepost method to create the distance between things that are equally spaced in perspective. Students will learn to create a grid in 1 point perspective and 2 point perspective. These grids can be used to create floors, windows or bricks on buildings. Students will then create a finished drawing in one point perspective. Students will create a finished drawing in 2 point perspective with atmospheric perspective. Students will need multiple pieces of white paper, drawing pencils, a ruler, and a darker pencil (black colored pencil), or marker.
