While Periscope runs on both Apple and Android devices it does have a minimum hardware and software requirement.
I tried to install Periscope on my Samsung Galaxy S4 without success, so it's fair to say that Periscope won't run on all devices.
This lecture identifies the minimum software requirements for Periscope.
In this short video I record my screen as I setup my Periscope profile.
Important Note: Use the description field to clearly state what you do or the services/products you offer. You should also include information on how people can find you. This helps potential followers determine if your broadcasts are going to be relevant to them as well as providing a means of monetizing your profile and broadcasts.
It's time for you to get started! This activity is really quick and easy. All you have to do is install Periscope and set up your profile information.
The sooner you install Periscope and become familiar with how it works the sooner you'll be bringing captivating content live to your students or coaching clients.
Broadcasting live is a lot of fun and before long you'll be identifying opportunities to bring your audience interesting, unique content.
It is important to remember that you are sending high definition video and that can consume your mobile data at an alarming rate.
In this lecture we talk about how much bandwidth you can expect to be using and tips on how to avoid excess data usage bills.
This video demonstrates the versatility of Periscope. For this scope we took the phone into the change rooms of a local sports club and live streamed some of the player preparation.
No lights, no microphones, no special setup, everything was recorded off the phone.
You will notice that we announce that we are 'live streaming around the world' a number of times during the scope. We were in an Australian Rules Football club after all, so we were warning the players of the live broadcast so that they could keep their language and general behavior appropriate for the occasion.
When you start your broadcast you can optionally have Periscope post to your Twitter feed. But what about your other social networks? How would you like you automate posts to Facebook and LinkedIn when you start your Periscope broadcast?
By notifying your connections on the various social media platforms you are spreading the word far and wide to build a larger audience to your scopes.
