You learn additional payroll laws that are key in understanding payroll rules and processes. You continue to understands what laws are provided for protecting employees and how your company can stay within those laws.
When an employee is hired, there are a series of tasks that need to be completed. An employee record must be set-up and maintained in order to keep accuracy in the process.
Hiring employees includes multiple steps and decisions that need to be made by management. For example, managers need to determine how often the employees will be paid among other decisions.
Now that the employees have been added to the system and have begun working for the company, you will need to calculate how much they are owed.
Employee pay calculations are complex so you continue to learn the various aspects of determining what is owed to the employee.
Most employers provide employees with benefits. Benefits are attractive to employees and are positive for the company too. You will learn how benefits are a win-win situation for both the employee and employer.
A key form that is obtained from the employee is the W-4. This form is part of the hiring process. However, due to the significance of this form in payroll calculations, you will get a lesson that focuses just on the W-4.
Federal Income Tax Withholdings Percentage Method: You will learn one method used to calculate how much money to withhold from employee pay to submit to the federal government for income tax.
Federal Income Tax Withholdings Bracket Method: There is another option that is available in calculating federal income tax withholdings. You will learn the bracket method and why this method may be a useful option for payroll.
The Federal Insurance Contribution Act is one of the most significant elements in payroll. In this lesson you learn how to calculate both the Social Security and Medicare withholdings necessary for the employee as well as employer contributions.

QuickBooks Online for Employee Lists: QuickBooks is the most popular software tool in business. By the end of this lesson, you will learn how to add an employee to the system using the employee record. You will learn how to access a free QuickBooks testing environment to practice these steps.
QuickBooks Online for Payroll Expense: In this lesson you learn how to include the journal entry needed for payroll. You do not need to pay for the QuickBooks payroll service. Instead by the end of this lesson, you can add the payroll to the books yourself.
QuickBooks Online for Payroll Tax: There are two elements of employee pay. Previously we looked at payroll expense. Now you learn how to add the payroll tax to your QuickBooks system.
