
Paper Quilling is the art of rolling, shaping, gluing and making different things with simple looking colorful paper strips. With quilling you can make bookmarks, magnets, cards, ornaments, key chains, multipurpose boxes, frames and lots of things. The sky is the limit.
Quilling has some amazing benefits for kids as well as adults. It works on fine motor skills including coordination and strength. It is a great way to build hand - eye coordination. It also helps in reducing anxiety. Quilling is also relaxing and calming. You can make lot of things with quilling . You just need your imagination.
Paper Quilling Supplies:
Paper Quilling Slotted Tool
Circle Sizer
3 mm or 5 mm wide Paper Strips
Paper Quilling Comb or Hair Comb or Pet Comb
Quilling Mold or Quilling Dome
Any White Glue which dries clear (Elmer's School Glue or Tacky Glue)

You can buy Paper Quilling Supplies in Hobby Lobby shop or order online on Amazon or Walmart or Etsy. If you didn't get any supplies online then you can make your slotted tool, circle sizer, paper strips at home.

Please download the attached document. If you don't have printer you can just take one paper and write names of shapes and glue quilling shapes on that paper for your reference.
In this lesson you will learn how to glue shapes together to make beautiful object.
Tips:
For base you can use cork board or take a thick card board and wrap that board with plastic wrap or aluminum foil so that your creations will not stick to the cardboard.
Try to use very less glue. Sometimes if you use lot of glue you will see white patches after it dries.
While gluing shapes together use pins.
Let your creations dry completely.

In this lesson you will learn how to make greeting card using basic shapes and scrolls. This is just one simple example of card. You can make different cards, ornaments, bookmarks etc.
These are some samples of my work. You can get inspired by these designs. You can try to make same designs or you can create your own designs.
In this lesson you will learn how to make Malaysian Petal. You can make 1 color, 2 color or more than 2 color petals. You can make flowers, petals, mandala etc. using these petals.
You can also make bookmarks with these flowers. For bookmarks you can glue your creations on popsicle sticks or on cardstock.
In this lesson you can learn how to make paper quilling jewelry and how to make them sturdy and water resistant.
Types of Sealants:
Elmer's Glue(1 Part) + Water ( 1 Part)
Matte Finishing Mod Podge
Clear Varnish
PPA (Perfect Paper Adhesive)
Crystal Coat Glaze
Tips for applying sealants:
First apply sealants on sides.
Use pin or tooth pick to hold your ear ring on base so that your hands will not get messy.
Apply sealant on one side with brush.
Let one side dry for couple of hours then apply sealant on other side.
Apply at least 2 coats of sealants on both sides.
Remember to let it dry ear rings completely before adding jewelry findings.
When you want to make bookmarks, magnets, ornaments, boxes etc. apply sealant for sturdiness.
In this lesson you will learn beehive technique. You can make different shapes with ring coil and fill up those shapes with beehive technique. You can also make monograms with this technique.
In this lesson I am going to teach 2 combing techniques. I am also going to show you how to make angel using these techniques.
For combing you can use quilling comb or regular hair comb or pet comb.

In this lesson you will learn how to give 3D effect to quilling flowers.
Tips for giving 3d effect to flowers:
Glue all petals and let it dry for some time. When glue is still little bit wet take flower in palm and press the middle of flower with finger of other hand till flower dries.
You can cut small circle with thick paper. Make a cone shape with that circle and glue flower on that cone.
In this lesson you will learn how to make 3D flower pot.
Tips:
Use 5 mm or 7 mm strips.
Always smooth edges before rolling strips to get smooth finishing.
If you want to make only one big tight coil while you can insert strips one after another.
When you want to make multiple coils with same size glue all strips first, make big strip and roll that big strip.
After giving shape to tight coil always use glue to secure all strips.
Let that shape dry completely before gluing that shape to another shape.
In this lesson you will learn how to make 3D Angel.
Tips:
Use 5 mm or 7 mm strips.
Always smooth edges before rolling strips to get smooth finishing.
If you want to make only one big tight coil while you can insert strips one after another.
When you want to make multiple coils with same size glue all strips first, make big strip and roll that big strip.
After giving shape to tight coil always use glue to secure all strips.
Let that shape dry completely before gluing that shape to another shape.
This is just another example of 3D quilling. You can make different characters, human figures etc.
These are just few examples. You can make different cartoon characters, human figures etc. with 3d quilling.
With on edge quilling you can make monograms and convert any design into quilling creation. You can take a print out or draw design first then do border with paper strips. Once you are done with border fill up that design with any quilling technique that you learned.
Tips For Bordering
Use thick glue like tacky glue.
Use thick strips ( Cardstock strips or glue 2-3 strips on top of each other)
Use tweezer to bend strips in the corner.
Instead of using one big strip at a time If you want you can measure exact strip for small portion of letter or design, cut strip and glue that strip
In this lesson you will see how to fill up the monogram.
You can use all quilling techniques for filling up your monogram or design. If you want you can also do quilling outside the monogram.
While filling up monogram you can decide what do you want to do and draw that on paper. It will help you in deciding which shapes and techniques to use.
These are few photos of my creations. You can make any design with quilling. Just take a print out or draw that object and do quilling.
