It is difficult to paint flowers because it is not just a geometric object, but also a living creation of nature, delicate, transparent. How to paint a complex shape of roses with oil, while maintaining the sensuality and subtlety of this flower?

I created a tutorial on creating a rose with a palette knife in order to understand its geometric shape. After completing this lesson, it will be easy for you to create these delicate flowers. Their image will be in your head and your hand will easily create the geometry of this flower being able to follow your creativity.

You will no longer need to look for the image of a flower, it will be worked out and you will be able to draw your attention to light, color, transparency, what makes your work special.

You will learn from this lesson not only how to paint a rose. You will also see what materials are used for impasto, how to mix colors and how to control the whole process of drawing a flower.

The impasto technique involves painting in several layers. Without knowing this subtlety, the work can easily fail and disappointment often forces you to quit painting and no longer take a palette knife in your hands.

This happens very often, and I sincerely want to fix this situation!

The secret is to correctly observe the thickness of the first layer. In my tutorial, I will talk about this in detail.

If you apply the background correctly, then you can adjust your work at any time. You will also learn how to do this from my tutorial.

    Thus, you simply cannot fail!

After all, you can simply remove the paint and paint the missing piece in a new way.

So it is no reason anymore to put it off, let's begin!

Description

Do you have difficulties with stress, art is the best healing!

It is difficult to paint flowers because it is not just a geometric object, but also a living creation of nature, delicate, transparent.

How to feel the oil? Oil is a capricious material. It smears, takes a long time to dry and smells great too! But there is a way to conquer it even if you have no experience! Try a palette knife.

Firstly, you don’t need to use a solvent, which is one less minus. The consistency of oil paint in a tube is just what you need to paint with a palette knife. Secondly, if you use it correctly, nothing will smudge. Try my short master class and you will understand and feel it!

But it will take a long time to dry! This is what it is. Two to three weeks)))

I made a tutorial on creating a rose with a palette knife in order to understand its geometric shape. After completing this lesson, it will be easy for you to create these delicate flowers, their image will be in your head and your hand will easily create the geometry of this flower following your creativity.

The second lesson is going in relaxed way, painting with a palette knife is becoming the pleasure and therapy.

You will learn from this lesson not only how to paint a rose. You will also see what materials are used for impasto, how to mix colors and how to control the whole process of drawing a flower. In addition you'll get relaxed and satisfied by you new skill!

We re going to need:

Oil paints:

I used Van Gogh, and Cobra, you can also choose another firm but the colors usually all firms use the same. For a palette knife you don’t need any solvents and thinners.

Colors:

Titanium white

Ultramarine

Cadmium Yellow/ Azo yellow

Burnt Umber

Olive green/Viridian green

Azo red medium

Palette I usually use this tear-off palette. It’s very useful.

Palette knife.

It has to be a soft one. You can check it if you try it on a canvas, it has to bend. If the canvas bends, it is a hard palette knife, and doesn't match you.

The palette knife  "Fish" is universal and very useful. It has rounded edges. You'll know more in the course about that.

Small canvas, oil paper or panel 8 x 8 inches, 20 x 20 cm

You can request a feedback if you would like. I can answer your questions here in comments under the video.  I will be pleased if you share your results!
