In this first video we look at the materials you will need, and start the basic drawing for the painting
In this video we start blocking in the sky and distant mountain ranges.
Next we paint the rolling hills in the middle distance and foreground. We start by blocking in with different values in our mix of greens
We move to blocking in dark shapes for the villa and trees
We move not to paint in the path and the villa.
In this video we paint the mid tone greens on to our trees and shrubs. This is an important step in building up the painting.
Moving towards the end of the project we focus on details and some highlights
With our painting finished we wrap up and go over everything we have achieved
In this presentation we go over some of the essential landscape painting principles that are used in the Tuscany Villa painting. When you learn these and apply them to your own painting you will quickly improve. See the attached PDF in the resources section.

Block in the Tuscany farmhouse scene with the three-step blocking method in step two, shaping docks, stonework, and trees with a blue, red, and yellow palette to build depth.
