Apart from scissors and knifes can buy scissors which will give you a decorative edge, these can be fun for deckle or zigzag. Also tearing paper can give you an interesting edge.
NB Never use fabric shears
Putting it all together.
A short video to show you some fixings.
Economy envelopes
You can sometime buy inexpensive envelopes, so make cards to fit. Here are a few idea.
A fairly quick and simple landscape.
Here I decided to make the painting area big enough to fill the blank card. I taped off a rough area and then afterwards I outlined the painted area with watercolour pencil, just to make a change. I decided to include a spring climbing shrub in the foreground
I think that when you are painting a number of cards it's nice to add some variety. Keep it simple and quick, then you don't over think.

You could do this one with the kids.
This is really fun and childlike. Use paint and watercolour pencils and play with the layout.
I incorporated a printed background to set the painting off.

Pumpkins
Make them whatever size and colours you like. This is not just a great autumn them for an autumn birthday but could be adapted for Halloween and Thanksgiving.
I rubbed a green watercolour pencil around thew edge of the paper so it would stand out against the colour of the card. I also put a thin line around the painted area and blended it with a wet brush.

Paint these what ever colours you like and add stripes of other patterns.
This only took seven minutes, so you will soon be painting them in five and making lots of super cards.

A Christmas tradition.
As well as the other greenery brought into the home during the festive season a bunch of mistletoe was also hung up, especially at a party. If you were caught standing underneath it then anyone could kiss you.
Here is a quick and simple little bunch to paint. Elaborate on it or use coloured card to set it off.

A photo of both the card and a picture of the leaves.

You can have some great fun with this idea. Think of all the different colours and decorations you can add along with candles and a flag with the name of the 'birthday person on it.

This is perfect for those who want to paint some quick and easy pictures for a selection of greeting cards including suggestions for Christmas.
There are paintings suitable for different seasons and a variety of special occasions. And what's even better most of the paintings will only take you about 10 minutes to paint. So once you get into a rhythm you will be building up quite a collection to mount however you wish onto blank cards.
Impress your family and friends and maybe even start selling them. You never know ?
There are so many different festivals celebrated by different nationalities I have not featured any except Christmas, but I do hope some of the things you see here will inspire you with your own special celebrations.
