What you'll learn

  • Understand how OSPF works
  • Apply all OSPF knowledge in Juniper routers by LABS
  • Be ready for the Juniper JNCIS exam
  • Be able to configure OSPF on Juniper routers in the production network
  • All lessons are explained with LABS

Course content

9 sections19 lectures2h 56m total length
  • EGP vs IGP - Distance Vector vs Link State Routing Protocols12:15

Contrast interior gateway protocols (IGP) and exterior gateway protocols (EGP) to explain distance-vector versus link-state routing and how BGP glues autonomous systems together.

  • Link State theory10:03

Explore how link state works for SPF in interior gateway protocols. Exchange LSAs to build an identical link state database and run the Diksha algorithm to populate routing tables.

Requirements

  • Preferably JNCIA certified
  • Networking and TCP/IP knowledge

Description

OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) is an interior routing protocol that is widely used by companies, organizations and ISP's. As being an open standard protocol, it can be used on different vendors including Juniper.

However, OSPF can be hard to be configured correctly in case you do not know how OSPF works. That's why, I have decided to make this course to explain to you about everything you need to know on OSPF, and to show you how you can configure it correctly on Juniper routers and L3 switches.

In this course, I will pass through the following topics:

  • EGP vs IGP - Distance Vector vs Link State Routing Protocols

  • Link State theory

  • OSPF Hello Packets

  • OSPF DR and BDR Election

  • Multi-area on OSPF

  • OSPF Passive interface

  • OSPF Virtual link

  • OSPF Route Aggregation

  • OSPF Default originate

  • OSPF LSA types

  • OSPF Stub areas

To follow this course, you need to have access to 4 Juniper routers. It doesn't matter whether you use virtual or physical Juniper routers, but be sure that you have access to 4 of them. In the course, I will teach you step by step all LABs so you can repeat them easily by your own.

Finally, if you wish to have a deep knowledge about OSPF and to know how to configure it correctly on Juniper products, I advise you to take this course which will help to achieve that goal.

Who this course is for:

  • Anyone interested to know how to configure OSPF on Juniper Routers
  • Students preparing for the JNCIS exam
