Makeup gets me so excited. I want you to get excited too. I want you to feel empowered, knowing which steps to take and which products to use. Makeup is fun. It is a beautiful way to express who you are and how you want to represent yourself to the world.
Heads up. This course has a lot of content. I have 16 years of experience as a professional makeup artist that I share with you.
Fall in love with products and brushes. Loose yourself in the methodical application of makeup. Use makeup as a form of self love and enjoy the process of becoming better at it everyday!
3 Main things I want you to take away from this lecture is:
Follow my instructions in the first part of the video and determine your skin type.
Realise how important doing skincare is for a natural foundation finish.
Cleanse and moisturise your skin or your clients skin before putting on foundation, everyday.
Many women want to know what a primer is. I aim to take the mystery out of it.
This lecture will teach you what a primer is and how to choose a primer out of the 1000's on the market that is right for you.
You will also be able to apply it correctly.
Tip: Did you know if you foundation oxidises (goes orange), then a primer could prevent that. It creates a breathable barrier between your skin and foundation.
Agree to disagree. This is a bit of an out dated concept because it is so much more complicated than warm and cool.
That said, we have all experienced wearing a colour that makes us look ill. Same for makeup, the wrong colour will make your complexion look "off".
I have attached a pdf that has examples of celebs and what colours suit them. It just simplifies it for you. Find the person who matches your eye, skin and hair colour and see what colours are recommended.
Download the materials attached to this lecture. Now you can determine your colour palette and use colours that suit your complexion best.
I have pigmentation, thanks to 90's sun-beds that were all the rage when I was a teen. I used my own experience, on how I conceal and set my foundation. I like no-makeup-makeup. That is the technique I teach with concealer and powder applications.
Blemishes, dark circles and pigmentation are all just skin. It is important that you know, it is not, a flaw. Rather than aim to hide it under layers of makeup, choose to soften its appearance.
Did you know contour is an age old concept.
Studying drama in the early 2000's it was part of my stage makeup course. It was used to alter the actors appearance to suit their role.
It is a simple concept, dark matt colours pushes back, makes smaller and light/shimmer colours brings forwards or enlarges.
Instead of following a '3' shape as you influenced to do, learn what contour is and how you want to use it on your face to enhance your features.
The golden metric system is a mathematical equation that shows what the formula is for a balanced face. Not the most perfect, its just a guide that I like to use to balance features using makeup.
Now you can measure out your brow and see where you need to shape it or let it grow back.
Part 1
After shaping your eyebrows you might find you need to extend or fill the arches according to what you measured out in the previous lesson.
You might feel intimidated by all the different products you can use to fill in your brows but now you know what the outcome should be, it no longer matters what you use to get there. Keep it simple.
Part 2
After shaping your eyebrows you might find you need to extend or fill the arches according to what you measured out in the previous lesson.
You might feel intimidated by all the different products you can use to fill in your brows but now you know what the outcome should be, it no longer matters what you use to get there. Keep it simple.
Important notice: Please send a photo to the course creator. She will personally determine your eye shape.
I demonstrate on the models in this lesson how to determine your own eye shape.
From the contour lesson you learnt how to use light and dark to alter a shape. The same applies to your eye shadow. If you know your eye shape you know where you want to place dark colour and where you want to put light colours.
The importance of knowing your eye shape empowers you to search and watch makeup tutorials for your specific eye shape. No more wasting time trying eyeshadow looks that wont benefit you.
Clients always ask me can you teach me how to do a make up look with my new palette.
1. The undertone lesson will teach you which colours to use that suit your complexion.
2. The contour lesson with teach you where light and dark goes according to how you want to enhance your eyes.
3. This lesson shows you how to use a combo of any three eyeshadow colours from any palette to create your desired looks.
Makeup always comes back to the contour rule of dark and light.
Black eyeliner can be used to make your eyes smaller and white eyeliner can be used to make them appear larger.
Use eyeliner to compliment your eye shape.
Liquid liner. Our age old nemesis, that never goes out of style.
I can give you my tips and tricks but its an intimidating form and the main thing is to go SLOW, practice and keep it simple.
Tip: Before washing your face at night, give liquid liner a go, you can just wash it off. Gives you lots of chance to become confidant.
You know, everyday I see a new add for miracle mascara that will give you the lashes of your dreams. In reality if you nail your technique you can use any mascara and make the best of your lashes.
All the tips and tricks in one lesson.
Tip: Translucent powder on the tips of your lashes will prevent panda eyes. Make sure the skin around the eye is powdered well and there are no sticky products that can smudge the mascara.
You either love or hate blusher.
If you know what your undertone is you can make a better choice at selecting a colour. Using the right colour of blush can really compliment your complexion. It makes you look healthy and brings dimension back to your face if you are wearing foundation.
A little goes a long way.
Lips. At the moment, the lip trend is in a downward spiral of the pillow lip.
You will be able to fake that look after this lesson in a more natural way by using a lipliner and lipstick combo.
