Requirements

  • You'll need a guitar (obvs!). No matter what styler you specialise in Richard recommends using a nylon strung guitar with cutaway and a strap as your study instrument.
  • There really are some golden musical nuggets here for all levels and stages of playing.
  • This course provides food for thought. It will help less experienced players lay a sound technical foundation and old dogs can definitely learn new tricks from this course.

Description

Whether you're new to playing the guitar, have been strumming for donkey's years or are a legend in your own ego, you're going to learn loads. These films are an entertaining way to thoroughly explore common issues faced by players of any fretted string instrument, be that acoustic, classical, Spanish, tenor or electric guitar.

For instance, do you ever wish you were born with longer fingers so you can make those impossible stretches with your pinkie? The good news is you don't have to tie weights to your fingers to make up for being short changed by nature. And you don't have to buy a guitar where the frets are closer together. Or give up the guitar and buy a ukulele (although if you do play the ukulele, there's much to learn here too). Richard reveals the solution in the 5th film.

What about the sound your guitar makes? Do you prefer to hear your guitar played by someone more experienced than you because 'it just sounds better'? So maybe we have some catching up to do, but this is the course to unlock the beautiful voice that's been hiding in your guitar.

Each episode explores a single, technical concept and Richard’s musical observations and commentary offer direct practical help throughout.

If you fancy a break in your practise - sit back and enjoy.
