With a world data base of terrain weather and airports ... Well I did it, in 2018. 260 flights and about the same in hours over ten months. You can do it too. Rudder pedals are recommended but not essential. Obviously not many pilots get there hands on a real Tornado GR4. Out of the pilots that do they are limited to where they can go, But with flight simulator you and I can not only learn to fly and navigate it, we can go on tour anywhere we like, not even the Royal Family can do that. So join me on tour with the Tornado GR4. I always wanted to fly around the world. and I have certainly had some experiences. Try to do it in real time and weather if you can.
- If you want to learn how to apply basic flying skills to a more complicated aircraft watch this free course.
I cannot believe how good it is to fly with the VR headset. That is what you are seeing in this film but 2D screens do not do it justice. I did fly the GR4 all the way around the world in 2018 and recommend you do it too in an aircraft of your choice. I thought I was good at geography but I learned so much.
Once you have learned to fly, in for example a Cessna 172, your licence will allow you to fly light aircraft upto 5700kg. If you want to fly heavier aircraft you will have to get a "Type rating" Here the Tornado GR4 for example can take off at 27 tonnes. we apply all the same rules to flying and navigation but is goes a lot faster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DSRp_CoiRE
This course gives me the opportunity to show you what you can do on your own computer. Feel free to follow me on Youtube, Tornado GR4 on tour. shortened versions are on youtube but the explainations and intricacys are not. youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvMrAwbigmQFSEp1cWHCnpg
As if Canyon flying is not dangerous enough to do it in crappy weather conditions is a recipe for disaster. Over confidence in your ability is a pilots worst enemy, and I am guilty of that, We are of course pleased when we pull it off, but this is a classic example of what not to do. The only way I was not killed was pure luck. To see the full version please see my youtube channel, search "On tour with the GR4" on youtube.
When flying the cardinal sin is to run out of fuel. If you are in ever in any doubt whatsoever that you will not make it with the fuel you have simply divert to somewhere else and fill up. Because you need more fuel than you will use as a reserve to divert if you cannot land at your destination.
Thanks for the ad. I am big into flying a world tour at the moment in the Tornado GR4 (X-Plane 11) to celebrate the 100 years old RAF and the retirement of the GR4 next year. Please Like and subscribe to my youtube channel. (Search Tornado GR4 on World tour, I do not make any money from this)
