This module is designed to equip participants with a knowledge of the processes involved in offsite construction. This includes the life-cycle of offsite construction projects, markets sectors, and the advantages and challenges of the offsite construction process. The modules is a good starting point for all roles in the built environment before moving on to the other more specialist modules.

This module focuses on the business operations of offsite construction including estimation, tendering and procurement. The topics covered will prepare learners to manage commercial activities in the context of offsite construction.
Logistics is the key to a successful offsite project, as all offsite components need to be delivered to the construction site, usually on the back of a truck. This module includes knowledge on inventory management and scheduling of transport from the factory to site.
Offsite construction is all about manufacturing more in a factory environment. This module introduces the key stages of the offsite manufacturing process, and how they relate to offsite advantages such as quality assurance, waste management and time savings.
Achieving the benefits possible with offsite construction depends on the accurate, safe and fast onsite placement and assembly of components onsite. This module covers onsite assembly processes of different offsite systems from site mobilisation to alterations and maintenance.
Integration of onsite processes with offsite products and systems is the critical link in delivering offsite construction projects. This module covers the collaborative approach needed in site management for offsite from supply chain management to quality control.
This course will provide participants with an understanding of the differences between offsite and onsite construction within the construction industry. Participants will gain an understanding of both the advantages and challenges of offsite construction.
Topics include:
Offsite fundamentals
Digital design
Estimating / commercial
Logistics
Offsite manufacture
Onsite placement and assembly
Management and integration.
Our course has been co-designed by industry and academic experts in the field of offsite construction. The project is led by CSIC (Construction Scotland Innovation Centre) and delivered in partnership with MOBIE (Ministry of Building and Education), CWIC (Construction Wales Innovation Centre), Edinburgh Napier University, COGC (City of Glasgow College) and COYO (Class of Your Own).
