Building an audience of real fans remotely is one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had.
Until you've done it, you can't really appreciate how fun it can be to engage with your community in this way!
I think you're going to find it to be way more fun than practicing alone :)
A QUICK BUT IMPORTANT NOTE:
ALWAYS follow the legal guidelines of whatever platform you are streaming to. This course is about technique only - for the specifics about what you can/can't broadcast, consult each platform's Terms of Service, or better yet, a music lawyer! I am neither a lawyer nor an expert, so please don't ask me questions about what type of music you can play, etc.
With an all-in-one unit, you can make set-up in general much easier. That's another perk of the Pioneer all-in-one systems!
There are enough cables and things to consider in this stage that you might have difficulty with it. And you might overlook a few things if you aren't careful!
So consider this a checklist for how you can get set-up properly. Make sure to go through each point and confirm that you are set up correctly before moving to the next video.
By the end of this, you should have everything plugged in and turned on, and you should be able to hear your DJ music through your Booth Monitor speakers, which are directly hooked up to your DJ Mixer or DJ Console.
Once you're all set up, move on to the next lesson!
Remember, this is NOT a commercial for Pioneer, and I have NEVER been compensated by Pioneer in any way for my recommendation. It's just my honest opinion based on years of experience that this is the best way for most people.
Once we've gotten everything hooked up and routed correctly, we are now ready to get the software side of things set up. This means registering for the various platforms we might stream on and installing OBS on our computer.
By the end of this lecture, you should have all of your hardware hooked up and you should have ALL of the necessary software/server/stream keys to begin broadcasting.
If your audio interface/sound card has software, I would recommend installing that as well. In the case of a Logitech webcam, make sure that you have the "Camera Settings" app installed from Logitech's website (FREE), or whatever software comes with your external webcam if you have one.
If you are confident that you have all the necessary software and hardware connected, then move on to the next step, where we will literally set up your scene for broadcasting to the world!
OBS can be confusing and daunting to a newcomer.
There are a few mistakes that you can easily make if you're not careful. This is the meat and potatoes of the course right here.
I show you how to avoid common mistakes and how to choose the best settings based on your own hardware capabilities and internet speed.
Pay extra special attention in this one, because this is where you can be creative and set the stage for the quality of your broadcast.
As something to note: if you pay a graphic designer to make transparent .png images for you, you can create beautiful canvas elements that will really make your scene pop!
Ohhhhh this is a big one.
Something as simple as setting the right audio levels in both your software and at the DJ mixer/hardware level can be the source of SO much trouble for so many would-be streamers.
Imagine going to all the trouble of setting up and your audience telling you that the stream is too quiet, too loud, distorting, or that it changes over time.
We have to be EXTRA EXTRA careful about the overall level of our audio signal and we have to make SURE that it's not changing over time.
Once you know how to do it, it's super simple! But you'd be amazed how many people get this part wrong!
What would a course be without something extra?
Here I cover a couple of advanced tricks that will get you thinking about the incredible world of what's possible here.
Needless to say, there's SO much you can do to make your live stream stand out compared to others. I wanted to show you some possibilities that will open new worlds for you.
The sky is the limit, and your imagination can take you to incredible new places!
Thanks for watching this course, I really hope you enjoyed it!
Best,
Ross
Hey everyone!
Are you wanting to live-stream your DJ sets the way the professionals do, but you just don't know how? Do you want to start practicing in front of a real audience to improve your skills?
Then you've come to the right place! I've had over 18,000+ enrollments on Udemy and counting, so rest assured you are in good hands.
Some time ago, I amassed over 40,000 real fans by live streaming my DJing daily.
I was routinely streaming my DJ sets for 20,000 people at a time. For the first time ever, I'm going to share with you exactly how I did it in this mini-course.
I wanted to give you all the tools you need to build your own community with people from around the world!
You don't have to be perfect at DJing at this stage, but you have to be comfortable enough with your DJ skills that you are ready to start performing in front of a digital audience!
If you are new to the world of DJing, I recommend you take my best-selling course on "How to DJ" here on Udemy first. This mini-course is an add-on for that course.
You do need to have your own DJ decks, a reasonably powerful computer, a (USB) audio interface, a fast internet connection, and a few other pieces of gear, like a microphone and an external webcam.
From physically plugging in your equipment to what software you need, to setting it all up to give you the maximum chance of success, this short course covers EVERYTHING you need to know to start throwing your first digital party this weekend!
But don't take my word for it --
I've had thousands and thousands of enrollments on this platform, so read the reviews from happy students!
I tried to pack as much value as I could into this course, and I tried to make something that would REALLY benefit you right now.
I also try to answer EVERY question in the Q&A - there's so much more value to this course than just the videos.
As with ALL my courses, I only want you to pay for it if you are totally satisfied. If you don't love it, just get a refund within 30 days of signing up.
For the price of a couple drinks, what have you got to lose?
I love the community we've built here on Udemy, and it's my sincere hope that you find the world of live-streaming DJing to be as rewarding and fulfilling as I have!
All the best,
Ross
