Primitives are the standard shapes like Sphere, Cylinder, Block, Rectangle, Circle etc. Inserting primitives is the first step in Realize shape environment. After inserting primitives we can shape them to get the required shaped object. Every primitive has control cage around it.
By modifying control cage we can change the shape of primitives. Cage vertex, cage edge and cage face can be translated and the shape can be modified. This tutorial shows you how to select the elements of the cage to modify the shape
Transform cage dialog box contains all the options to translate and rotate the cage elements.
We have seen extrude in modelling environment. In Realize shape also the option extrude is present. In this case however the extruded surface is a Subdivision surface
This tutorial shows you how create a revolved subdivision surface
This tutorial shows you how to create a surface by using a set of polylines
By using a polyline and one or two guides we can create sweep surface
Tube shape is produced by using a polyline
Bridge face option is used to connect two subdivision surfaces or two faces of single subdivision surface
This tutorial shows you how to create multiple copies of the subdivision surface that is created.
With split face we can add more number of sections in control cage.
Cage face can be subdivided into one more cage face by using this command
Cage faces can be merged together to form a single cage face.
Subdivision surfaces created in Realize Shape environment can be converted into the solids by using modelling options.
Are you curious about Realize Shape tools for creating freeform shapes? If Yes; this course is for you then.
NX Realize Shape is a powerful and intuitive subdivision design tool that makes use of primitive shapes to create concept design models. In Realize shape there are a number of standard shapes to select from such as cylinder, block, sphere to name a few.

When a primitive shape is created, a cage is automatically created that surrounds the shape. The shape can be morphed into designs by transforming that cage. By selecting on, and dragging the cage elements (lines or points), you can mold the shape.

The model created in Realize Shape can be used for detailed design, documentation, validation, simulation, and all the way to traditional or additive manufacturing… all within a single unified environment like NX… means you are going to use trusted data from concept to manufacturing… without requiring conversion or translation, and this is going to shorten your innovation lifecycle, getting you from concept to market faster!
This course introduces you to the Realize shape environment.
In this lecture series NX 10 version is used.
If you want to make your surface modelling process fast, NX realize shape is the best option for you.
This course is the step by step study of making 3D CAD prototypes.
