What our children eat everyday have an impact on their health not only when they eat it but on the long run. Many health problems that we see in our children start and progress as a result of malnutrition (under or overfeeding of our children). Our feeding strategies also affect their relationship with food maybe for the rest of their lives.
This course highlight the importance of nutrition not only on the child’s physical growth and development but on the brain growth and developmentof the different cognitive functions. To build a healthy long productive life, you must start early even before the child is born as the first 1000 days are crucial (270 days during pregnancy then the 730 days during the first 2 years of their age) where 75% of brain growth takes place within.
It is important that the child eats all the needed food groups from carbs, fats, proteins and enough water intake on a daily basis together with limiting and avoiding all those junk fast food that are eaten frequently nowadays. Understanding all different aspects of healthy eating will help parents and child caregivers make better choices for their children.
