Chapter 1 - Challenge for Entrepreneurs
Hi everyone, I’m Mike Handcock, the Chairman of Rock Your Life.
I’ve got a question for you: would you like to know the number one reason entrepreneurs fail?
Well, let me introduce you to two amazing people: Todd Hutchison (the corporate mechanic and founder of Peoplistic) and Dave Rogers, well known as Asia’s leading entrepreneurs coach from Rock Your Life.
Together, the three of us are going to take you on a journey of discovery where you will get to know the answer to a pretty amazing secret. This is a journey where you will be informed and enlightened. Chapter 2 – Human Complexity Let’s start with the complexity of the human being.
We found that how you are born, your genetics, nature, nurture, personal experiences and your life influences all contribute to making you, you.
In fact, there are four core components that make you so uniquely different than everyone else, just like the three of us.
The first one is actually your behaviour style. Your behaviour style shows us what information you want, how you feel loved, how you feel connected and the specific things you’re going to excel at. If you develop your natural style, you begin to become what we call “flow.” Flow is where you can do specific things much more efficiently than anyone else. However, you are not born with an instruction manual so to understand your flow you actually have to get an idea of what your core behaviour is, then educate and build upon it.
In fact, in a book called Outliers, Malcom Gladwell showed that if you put 10 thousand hours into developing yourself through training and personal experience, you can become an expert of any task. Unfortunately though, you can adapt your behaviour so you may not choose to build upon your natural talents and instead pursue things that you may not be totally aligned to in terms of your natural style.
That’s where you can become proficient at something, but you may not have the love and passion that you need for the role. So, there is your behaviour style which you can adapt into something different than your natural style.
Communication Style (Human Representative System)
The other key element is your communication style known as your “human representative system.” You are either more of a visual person, an auditory person, or a physical person known as a “kinaesthetic learner.”
Even in training programs, some of you prefer to watch the PowerPoint presentations, read the manuals and get input through your visual sensors. Others, the auditory learners, would prefer just listening to us talking.
The physical people, though, would get agitated because they felt they need to be doing something. Hence, when you look at it, the VAK system allows us to identify the reasons why we click with
some people. That click is what we are talking about when we discuss having an aligned VAK system. It even tells us what words you use, how you communicate and how you feel loved.
The person with the high V feels loved when they see their partner doing things for them, when they buy the bling, gifts, being showed off and being taken out. It is all the things that they get to see their partner doing that makes them feel the most loved. Whereas the auditory person needs to be told that they are loved and appreciated to get to that ultimate point of feeling loved. The kinaesthetic person feels through touch, when they are physically connected they will get to that point of knowing that they are loved.
In fact, it even explains the honeymoon period. When you first meet someone, you take them out, show them around, buy them gifts. That’s the V in action and it’s the big tick for the Vs. For the auditory people, you are saying nice things to them, “I really connect with you,” “I really love spending time with you” and “oh man, you are so the one I’m after.” You are actually ticking all three boxes because it is physical as well. You hold hands, hug and kiss, pushing all the K buttons.
Eventually though, we go back into a dominant style and if it doesn’t match our partners style we may not do all the things that make them feel loved. So, sometimes when the honeymoon period goes away the relationship suffers the consequence. You are born with both your behaviour and communication style, but you can adapt them.
The visual person is highly conscious about their visual presentation. For visual women, they will put makeup on whether staying in or going out for the night. The auditory person typically puts makeup on when going out and always questions whether they’re wearing the right thing. Of course, the kinaesthetic person is about feeling, for them, it’s about comfort and wearing stuff that is comfortable. Now, imagine the issues that arise. If you have get a kinaesthetic person who is dressing for comfort compared to a visual person who wants their partner to dress up you might have a bit of a difference in opinion.
The V typically will look at the K and start thinking “you’re not really going out like that, are you?” They will typically buy presents like clothes for birthdays and Christmas, but really, in the
workplace, it comes down to the issues we have with communicating to one another. Even the words we use are important.
For example, I could be an auditory person looking at a visual person in the workplace and say “gee, your tie is really busy” and the visual person may not actually know whether I like the tie or not. As a consequence, there is an old saying “in the absence of information, people makeup stories” and sadly, those stories are rarely positive.
For example, my wife is late. Is she having an affair? Did she have car accident? I’m not necessarily jumping to the positive things unless I take control of monostatic conditioning. That is really what this program is about, understanding how we work. Going back to the tie situation, in the absence of knowing whether I like the tie or not, they might try to take the mickey out of it. They also actually like the tie and, as a consequence to that, in the absence of information they may make up a story saying “I am not sure about this relationship so I’m not sure if it’s going to be on good basis or not.” However, if someone else was there, they might chime in and say “Hey, what are you saying, your tie is really bright. It attracts attention.” As a consequence of that, you might have a different reaction like “yeah, the tie is cool, isn’t it? I bought in Spain.”
And the relationship will be shifted from a potentially bad relationship to a very positive one. So, these are the two things we are born with: our behaviour style and our communication style. We do indeed adapt and that adaption comes from the social influences, experiences and the observations we have in life.
So, if I get a person who is highly kinaesthetic, one that is dressed usually for comfort, but I find that they’re always dressed well at work or in their private life, I would know that it’s about life conditioning. In fact, if I ask the person “what did your father tell you about dressing?” They might comeback with things like “you must dress to impress” or “no one takes you seriously unless you are dressed well.”
As a consequence of that, they have adapted from their natural style. In addition to those natural things, we are born to adapt. We have those life experiences, those observations and those things that happen to us that shape us and give us our unique personalities.
These are the two aspects which make up the four complexities of the human being. The first one is when you look at how values and belief systems impact us.
In fact, I may not have the perfect behaviour style, but my value system says I am not allowed to do this and that. Our thinking impacts our behaviours and actions which give us our results.
You may have the perfect style and the perfect behaviour, but you don’t pursue them because your thinking is impacted, therefore as entrepreneurs we don’t get the results that we want to in order to create sustainable and successful businesses.
Value and Belief Systems
The values and belief systems also cater to things like cultural differences. The fourth element is actually based on your expertise and your knowledge. This is your knowledge about your
profession, your discipline. That’s why I can add the expert of a certain discipline, but their attitude may be bad. That is the influence of the values and beliefs system coming in.
In total, you have these four complexities:
Your behaviour style
Your communication style
Your values and beliefs
Your personal knowledge and expertise
Bring these together and you start to see why you are such a unique person and why no one in the past, present or future will ever be like you.
You are unique.

Chapter 3 – Values and Beliefs
We all have different values and different beliefs. First, let’s look at the difference between what
a value is and what a belief is.
Now, a belief might be that all sales people are trying to sell you stuff without caring about you. A belief could be that old people are not up-to-date with modern technology. A belief could be that my parents don’t understand who I am even though I am 35.
What’s a value? Well, a value is something that you wouldn’t compromise on. In other words, would I run down the street naked? I probably would. That may be within my values. Would I jump off a 30-foot building onto a pile of cardboard boxes just to impress somebody? No, that is not in my value system. I don’t think that I need to show people how strong, tough and brave I am by jumping off a building.
We each have values and beliefs that change throughout our lives. In fact, every seven years we have a cell migration inside our body. So, 1 to 7, 7 to 14, 14 to 21, 21 to 28, 28 to 35, you get the picture. If you’re thinking you look really beautiful when you are 34 years old, guess what? At 35, your cells are going to change and you may look a little different. That is why you see some people and you go “wow, they don’t look any different than they did five years ago,” but suddenly, a few years later, they’ve changed a little. It’s not about cell mutation or cell migration, though. It’s about your changing values and beliefs.
You see, when I was a teenager, my values were rock and roll, party loud, get lots of girls, guitars, go to football games, play sports and hang with my friends. Some of that hasn’t changed, but as I go on, my values are beginning to make a big difference on the planet. Being the best I can be every day and helping people reach their potential is exactly what this video is about. These are values I didn’t have when I was a teenager, but at this stage of my life I have them.
Your parents and your grandparents may have values now at 60 or 70 years old that are saying “I don’t care what the world is doing. I just want to relax. I have done my bit. Maybe I’ll peek through the blinds and see what is going on in the world, but I am not going to integrate with it.”
Our values and beliefs change depending on the way we are. I had some beliefs that were rock solid in my 20s, but they are not so rock solid now. In fact, they are totally different beliefs. One of them I grew up in: the education system. As we grew up in it, we believed that was the way it should be, but now I don’t believe that at all. In fact, we work with many universities from around the world that are now using very alternative styles of education.
Let me share one of them with you. The Centre of Management in India brings in billionaires and multi-millionaires on a weekly basis to tell their students exactly how the world works. It’s not about what they read in textbooks.
So, what’s the point of my values and beliefs?
My point is this: folks! You, me and all of us, we have been programmed. From most of us watching this, and this may be the first time you have heard it, our values and beliefs aren’t ours.
We are living the values and beliefs that our parents were taught by our grandparents, we are living by what our teachers believed. We believe the media’s values and beliefs, maybe even some of our friend’s values and beliefs.
Think about this: what’s your value and belief about money? I think it might be very similar to what your parent’s values and beliefs are about money. They may be totally different from the person in the office next to yours or the person you are going to play golf with next weekend. We tend to get involved in other people values and beliefs because we are very influential.
Remember when I talked about those seven stages of life? Let me bring it back to you.
In the first seven years, it is our parents and grandparents instilling their values and beliefs on us.
Between 7 and 14, it is our school, friends and teachers. From age 14 through 21, it’s our friends, the media, and the rock and roll lifestyle type of thing going on. We are programmed. For many of us, especially me, we have gone through our life not even knowing what our true values and beliefs were in our heart.
So, we need to know and start to understand what the boundaries are around that. I didn’t even know that I had a value system about how celebrities should influence people until I saw Angelina Jolie come out with her information about her operation last year.
It triggered something in me, I realized that I had a value system about it. You are constantly discovering that what your values and beliefs are. The most important thing here is to understand that how you have been living so far may not really be you. It is all the aspects of you because it has been embedded in you, but it may contradict what is in your heart and soul.
Values are like branches on a tree and beliefs are the actual leaves. If you want to get rid of the leaves, you don’t cut the branch. When you have a life changing moment when your values shift, such as changing from being an atheist to a person of spiritual religion, you suddenly realize the shift in your values. Then, all your beliefs around religion change as well.
We suggest that as an entrepreneur you should write down your values so you can connect with them and live by them. In fact, when times get tough, when you have to make those key decisions, they become the principles that will guide your decisions and your life. Sometimes when you first make a list, you realize there are actually values that you are not living up to and it allows you to go back and check.
You get to ask yourself if you are living like the person you want to be.
Values, beliefs. I have an invitation for you is to start looking at your values and beliefs as something that change. For a man, I look at in eight-year cycles, 0 to 8, 8 to 16, 16 to 24, 24 to 32, 32 to 40, 40 to 48, and 48 to 56. For women, see it as a seven-year cycle.
Go back and look at some of the key things that you value. Maybe in your youth you valued freedom.
In your middle age, it might be your family. As your kids move out, you might begin valuing your creativity. If you don’t analyse these things, there is going to be incredible conflicts and challenges, along with pressure and stress.
Yet, if you are willing to go and look at your values and be curious about your beliefs, you can then have a new, renewed relationship that changes as you change. Something brilliant was discussed about 3500 years ago in Book of Changes. It’s something that may allow you to forecast the next seven years in order to make you a more empowered and aware entrepreneur. Perhaps you will even gain heightened consciousness and the willingness and ability to understand and redesign your values and your beliefs.

Chapter 4 – Quality Questions
When I was growing up, IQ (intelligence quotient) seemed to be the most important thing before everyone started talking about EQ (emotional quotient). Yet, I have discovered perhaps the most important Q is QQ (quality questions).
In fact, I will be as bold to say that the quality of our life comes down to the quality of the questions we ask. Since that time in 1987, I have been a student of questions. I look to find better questions that can shift not only my resourcefulness, but my co-worker’s resourcefulness.
The quality of our life comes down to the quality of the questions we ask.
Now, it’s been fascinating to explore the history of questions. Some of the oldest texts that I have been able to observe actually have questions with a vibration that can raise people up or knock people down. In fact, some can even chop people down.
So, let’s go through some of these questions. The first question that can often raise a vibration is “why.” Why is like water? The element of water. It often can create flow if the person is aligned with their big “why.”
The next element is wood and the question begins with “what.” In fact, I love “what” questions because they can help people gain clarity. They can help them focus and make them take action. What specifically would you like to do? What specifically can you do today? What specifically do you love to do? You can really shift someone’s vibration just with a question.
The next question is “who.” In entrepreneurship, if we focus on the “why,” “what” and “who” it is called the “constructive cycle of the each in.” Who is a dynamic of fire? It often is like a party. It is like summer energy that can really create a dynamic of leverage in a business where 1 + 1 does not equal 2. It can actually equal 11 or a whole lot more.
So, we start with water, we go to wood, then we get fire and lastly we have earth or wind. The wind question is “when.” It assists with the planning. It assists with setting the milestones and it can really get people aligned so they can be strategic in the business that we are looking to flow.
In fact, we call the constructive cycle “why,” “what,” “who” and “when.” Guess what? You don’t have to be focusing on that last question, which is “how?” In fact, one of the things in entrepreneurship is if we can put the “how” to the side and allow our business to grow focusing on the four W’s, it can really allow the team to come together and grow in a systematic way that allows magic to happen.
Change the question and we can change the vibration and raise the game. In fact, a dear friend of mine, Glen Levy, often talked about questions changing focus within martial arts. By changing focus, energy flows. In fact, the quote is “energy flows where focus goes.”
By asking a great question, we help somebody change their focus. We raise their vibration and we put them into a resourceful state. Change your question, change your reality and change your world. Quality questions are the step that can truly change the quality of your life.
So, when you’re looking at questions, consider who those questions focus on. If you are trying to help someone, the focus has to be on them. Sometimes you are asking questions to give clarity and guidance to yourself, so those that are frank allow you to actually have resourcefulness coming back to yourself.
Remember, the most important person in the world is you. If you are working with someone, the focus is on them in terms of questioning so that you can help people identify the barriers and break through some of the things that may be holding them back in becoming brilliant entrepreneurs.
Dave talked about the five questions that relate to the each in.
The water was the “why” question; the wood was the “what” question; the fire was the “who” question; the earth was the “when” question and the metal was the “how” question.
What is the number one question that entrepreneurs always ask? “How.” How can I make more money? How can I get more clients? How can I get a better premise? How can I expand overseas?
Guess what, folks, you are asking the wrong question.
What is the question that destroys how fire melts metal? I will say that again, Fire melts metal.
Who always knows how? You never need to know how if you know who. Focus on the who. Who are the best mentors for you? Who has already done this before?
Who has gone into this market before? That’s the way you should do it. Don’t worry about the how’s, work on the who.

What are your top three projects or initiatives for the next twelve months?
In each of the projects noted above, who do you know who is a leader in that field? What two or three key things can your learn from them?
Who would you love to collaborate with in a project or an initiative in the next 12 months? Or in 36 months?
Chapter 5 – Power of Clarity
Clarity is such an important part of our life. What time do I have to be at work? What does my boss expect of me? What are my roles and responsibilities? What am I doing this weekend? Who am I going to marry? What is my next career move? How am I going to die?
All of those questions are trying to seek some form of clarity. The stress that we go through in life is a real or perceived loss of control. So, what does clarity give us? Clarity gives us the focus and ability to take control. That's why when we are looking at clarity from a business perspective; we are actually looking at the strategy. Are we clear on where we want this business to be in 3 or 5 years? What are we trying to create here? Where is our market? What are those strategic components that allow us to align our energy well?
Of course as an individual, clarity is about getting an idea of what our goals are. What is our purpose in life? When we look at it, we believe it's about living a passionate life, doing things you love, spending time on things you like to spend time on and actually using your natural talents, your uniqueness. When an entrepreneur aligns those things together, they get clarity. Their identity allows them to create the person that they always wanted to be and the last circumstance they want to enjoy. It’s about using your energy wisely.
In psychology, we talk about two types of motivation. The first one is away from motivation and it is about avoiding our pain. It’s about focussing on the things you don't want to focus on and of course it has a purpose. It’s there because if you are in a bad relationship, this is the power and the motivation that allows you to get out of it. If you are in a bad job, this is the motivation that allows you to get out of that bad job.
If you’re in a dangerous situation this is the one that gives you the motivation to get away from that danger. Let me point something out, what are you focused on? We are focused on the things that you don't want. Whatever you’re focused on, the energy comes. What you focus on is going to be your reality.
If I go into the workplace and say I don’t like this part of my job, have you noticed that my brain takes it as a signal to look for other things you don't like about your job? Then suddenly, you feel like you are at the worst job possible. So, you resign and people ask you why. You don't really know because you have conditioned yourself. So, being away from motivation has a purpose, but that's not where we want to play because if an entrepreneur is focused away from the motivation, you might get too scared about all the risks, all the things that could go wrong. Then you are not going to take action to continue your business.
The other one, the one we want you to focus on is towards motivation. Towards motivation is all about clarity because you know exactly where you want to go, where you want to be, what’s the next step is. When you know that, it means you know exactly what your goals are, what your business strategy is. So, you can put your energy in the right way to reach what you’re wanting to achieve and take your business where you want to go.
It's really about getting rid of the cradle, getting rid of all the things that are not so important that will distract you from making an impact and shifting your business to the next level. That cradle is a distraction. We are going to get rid of that cradle by getting clear about our strategy and goals. It's time to get focused.
Clarity is power, just think about it. If you can get crystal clear then the next step forward smoothly and simply flows. Clarity will allow that to happen. Now, one of the great things about clarity is that once you have clarity, taking that first step is a piece of cake. The gap before getting clarity is refined and redefined by the words, by the questions and by the intention of your plan and strategy. Use the intention of clarity in your daily planning as a way to have more clarity in your life.
You are standing at immigration and you have your form near. It’s says “occupation.” What do you write down? You see, I see people all the time going “Oh...you know I do something that involves people. There are some tasks in it and we have got really cool software.” What do you do there is no clarity?
See, most entrepreneurs cannot explain what they do, they think it’s unique, but mostly it's not. It actually comes down to a basis of some sort. Yeah, when they go into all this puffery, what happens is clients don't understand what exactly it is so they don't buy. If you are wondering why you are not getting sales, it’s probably because you are not being clear. Be clear, have clarity, make sales and sound good. Cool? Cool.

Do you have a bucket list? If yes, what are the top ten items on your bucket list for the next twelve months? What can you do today to move closer to those goals? If no, what would be 50 things that you would like to accomplish in the next five years? Write them down, perhaps use headings like “travel,” “work,” “relationships,” “health & wellness,” “dreams” and others.
If clarity is power, what three projects would you love to focus on in the next week? The next month? The next year? What three things can you do today to get even more clarity on each of these initiatives or projects?
The term “specifically” is one of the gems in understanding focus. "What specifically?” is a question that allows the conscious mind to zoom-in on one specific step in order to move forward. What specifically can you do today to be even healthier? What specifically can you apply this week to ensure you become clear in your communication?
Describe, in 20 words or less, what clarity is to you.
What is the opposite of clarity and in what ways does this provide value to you and your life?
What is your three-step strategy or process to get clarity on a problem, issue or challenge?
If “clarity is power,” what are the three things you can do in the next 6 months to bring more clarity into your life?
Chapter 6 – Environment
Wow! Look at this cool environment behind me as I am talking to you guys. Well, it’s not just about a physical environment, but I do want to speak to you about the role of environment which is really underrated in entrepreneurship.
For instance, what are the current inputs that are happening in your current environment today? Just think about it. Think about what's going on in your life today. Just before you watched this video, what was happening? What have you read today? What have you watched today? Have a look around at your physical space and see if it's the type of place that you would be proud of, see if what you have read, what you have listened to is something that you would love to talk to other people about and see how your current energy is.
Are you feeling resourceful or are you feeling unresourceful? Chances are, whatever you are feeling is going to come down to how your current environment is and that's going to take five senses. It’s not just the physical beauty of your current environment, it’s about what you are watching, what you are listening to, what you are tasting, yes; food comes into it, too. What you are touching and when I mean touch, I mean what projects are you doing?
For example, here is a quick question: are you the type of person that gets up in the morning goes to check email, then says “oh man! I have got so many emails today!” Or, are you the type of person that's gets other stuff done first before the emails because you know that your emails bring you down?
What are you allowing into your space? What are other people giving you? How are you actually allowing them to give you that? Are you allowing people to give you input all of the time? For instance, I am doing a video with you. When I finish doing this video, the people that I’m doing this video with might want to give me some feedback.
My environment that I control would not allow feedback immediately until I relaxed and actually thought about it. Have I done a good job? Am I ready for feedback yet? You control what comes into your space.
So, let’s look at the spaces. Are you in an office? Is your office the right office? Is everything set up right? Now, I am not going to go into functionary or anything like that because you can Google that and get some really great experts around the world to help you design the spaces that you need, but, what I realized many years ago is I came out of corporate life and the first thing I did was get an office. After six months, I thought why am I paying all this rent for this office? I’m basically just at my corporate job again. So, I decided to change it. I didn't really need an office. So, I got out of the office and went home.
Guess what I did? I started a home office. It was the same desk that I had in my corporate space and other office, same filling cabinets, too. I put my laptop here, bookshelf over there and nothing actually changed. My energy for doing this was “oh man! I got to go to work today.” Except now it’s only 20 seconds instead of ten minutes to get to work.
So, then I started looking at the spaces that I do well in. For instance, if you want to meet with me today, would meet at one of my favourite cafes. Why? I know what happens in the environment there. I know the waiters, the quality of coffee, the menu; I can even get my favourite table. I know and I understand the space, the vibe. I know it’s going to raise all of our energies so that’s where I do meetings.
I do creative stuff when I am travelling. The reason we love to travel is because we love who we are when we travel. I do my creative stuff when I am travelling. When I’m on planes and in airports. When I’m meeting different, wonderful people that inspire me, and I inspire them back and it becomes a creative vortex. Guess where I do my accounts for fifteen minutes? At that desk when I am home because I want to get out of there.
But my good friend, Glen Levy, told me the way he changed his life and revolutionized real accounts. He did them when he put on his favourite music and had his favourite red vine with him. Then, he actually looked forward to doing them. You create the environment. Nobody else creates the environment for you. It doesn't happen to you, you are the entrepreneur and you are responsible for it, but you are also responsible for creating it for others. So, what does that mean?
You have got new contractors coming in, maybe through Elance, or maybe they are actually going to start working for you in a physical space.. What do you need to do to in that physical space? We did some pretty cool things with our new office.
First, we decided that we should paint all the walls. We went to building owner and asked could we paint. We wanted good vibrant colours, not the boring black, grey and brown. They said yes, providing we paint them back later.
Secondly, we got big posters made up all for all of our events. They were hung all around there so that anybody coming in goes “wow, that's cool.” Third, our company rocks your life! We play rock music all day at the office. Why? We want to create a certain buzz first. Secondly, it rocks your life it’s not just an accountancy practice. We have got the tequila machine in the corner. People could have margaritas instead of coffee if they want.
We create an environment; there are many more things that I can talk about. You are totally responsible for creating the environment. That comes down to the job specs. What do you expect from people? How do you actually set the stage for them? How do you turn up? The way in which you relate to them is all about the environment. Culture and community are the two biggest things on the planet in this part of the 21st century. Think of Apple, think of Virgin, think of the big brands that are creating cultures and communities, and you should too. Manage your environment.
Have you noticed some people excel in open office spaces, where others actually prefer to have their own little quiet space? This largely comes down to your behaviour style, so just know there is not one solution for all. In fact, as an individual, you might find that you make phone calls better if you are walking around rather than sitting in the same spot.
That's why we say when you are sitting up in an environment that allows you to get into that flow to bring out your strength and be the entrepreneur that you want to be. It may not be just one space. Have you checked out where your energy. Have you built the environment that best serves you?
Be around positive people, be around mentors, coaches or other people that are doing a lot more than just going somewhere. That's the place we want to hang out.
So, you just heard some wonderful tips on the environment. The environment is what works for you and what can work for your team. Having the ability to shift the environment and your energy is incredible when you go for a walk and do some exercise, shifting your breathing and circulation.
The wonderful thing about the environment is that when you shift it, you gain awareness of this. You find places that elevate your vibration, places where you become more productive. This is about activation, awareness and execution. Make it part of your life to change your environment. Notice what works for you, what raises your energy and what lowers your energy by discovering your environment, by being curious about it.

Describe the type of environment that allows you to feel creative. Is it the ocean or the mountains or a quiet place or a noisy space? In 30 words or less, describe your ideal environment for creativity and the ways that you would engage with the space, whether through drawing, sketching, writing or photographing?
If you were to change your working environment, what two things would add or take away from the current environment to increase the vibrancy of the space?
In order to feel refreshed and energised, what sort of environment would you like to visit - ocean, forest, mountains, or other? Describe what occurs to you and your energy in this space in 30 words or less.
Water, wood, earth, fire or metal are the elements of the ICHING, an ancient Chinese text - what do you relate with each of these elements and in what ways would you like to engage with them in consciously choosing your living, work, and personal environments?
Chapter 7 – Power of Words
The power of words, the wisdom of words, the vibration of words. Do you believe that words can change your life? One word can change your life. I invite you to actually explore your relationship with words. In fact, most of us have no idea many of the words that come out of our mouth.
I learned this in 1987, when I had a word pattern that was destroying my life. In fact, there's a phrase, “life is a bitch when you marry one, then you die.” I used to say this with a lot of energy and focus. It was creating a lousy life, in fact a miserable, angry and violent life.
By being aware of the word in the word pattern I was able to change that word and it changed my life. The first month, I remember trying to change the pattern. Life’s a bbbbb....beach, life’s a beach, life’s a beach, life’s a beach” and it totally changed the way that I looked at life. When I was able to change that word, change that word pattern, I changed my life. Life became a beach, a big, beautiful beach.
Change your words because if you look at the history of words, it comes back to something called spelling. Spelling is an incredibly dynamic thing that we have been taught since we were very young. We create our own spells. In fact, when you are enthusiastic and excited, you have a spell, you feel great, you feel good, when you are feeling lousy, you might actually be asking yourself lousy questions or using lousy words or beating yourself up.
Words have vibration. Dr Emoto from Japan has done a lot of research into words. In fact, you can energize your water and yourself by shifting your words and using words like “love,” “energy,” “vibration,” “gratitude” and “appreciation.” Start using these words daily. Start using colourful words to brighten up your life. “Bright,” “beautiful,” “gorgeous,” “delicious” and “yummy” are some words that could shift the vibration of your life.
As an entrepreneur, when you are working with people, find out the keywords of your team mates. Encourage them, support them in their words using vitality, care and nurturing.
I had a dear employee, business partner and friend that I worked with. Her name was Joyti and she had a vibration with that. She changed her name to Joy and every day she would hear that name “Joy.” Her vibration, prosperity and creativity shifted by hearing the word “Joy” fifty times a day. So, what words might work for you? What vibration do you want to bring into your life, into your business and into your co-creative space? I invite you to start being aware, to activate and to truly enjoy your relationship with your words. And yes, what you co-create can be magical.
Research has indicated that the lock ability for you is around 7% of what you say, 38% your tonality (the way you say it) and 55% around your body language, physiology and dress. When you look at that, the words actually have an importance but it's actually the way you say it, the tonality and pitch you are emphasizing that’s more important. So, when you are listening to words and helping others, listen to what they are emphasizing. Listen to what they are focusing on, listen to where their voices change because chances are that the answers are in those words and they may not be consciously aware of what they are saying.
Words are powerful, listen carefully and provide valuable feedback.
We use to kill people with swords, but when you understand the etymology of the English language, you will understand all they did was move the “s” from the word sword to the back and it became words. Now, we kill people with our words. Dave has this record that he use to play, “life is a bitch when you marry one, then you die.” One word can change your life, but also one word can crucify somebody that you are working with, whether it be a client or somebody else.
Let me give you an example, just the other day I heard somebody give a testimonial. The testimonial was this, “Donald Trump uses that product.” I instantly checked in. Then I said, “And we are in the Wall Street Journal.” Wow! Then, I said, “we are advertising in there regularly.” So, now you advertise. That's not being in there, anybody can pay for that. So, instantly, all my things started questioning “what do you mean Donald Trump uses your product?” Maybe he uses it because he is in the Wall Street Journal as well. So, one word can shift everything. Words are your swords. Be careful who you cut with them.

Chapter 8 - Who are you?
At the start of this video we shared with you a particular question, do you remember it ? The question was “what is the number one reason why entrepreneurs fail?”
