Description
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading killer diseases globally causing 7 out of every 10 deaths globally. 70% of the deaths caused by these diseases occur in low- and middle-income counties, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Non-Communicable Diseases For Public Health Course will introduce the learners to what non-communicable diseases. The main aim of this short course is to enhance literacy on non-communicable diseases in a bid to improve better health outcomes through the application of the course content to daily life. This course can be taken by individuals, community health workers, teachers, students and even parents in a bid to learn about various non communicable diseases and on how to prevent and control them.
The course contains 9 modules and has been developed in simple easy to understand language that can be understood by the general population. It adapts the use of videos, images and audios to enhance learning. The course will also provide additional course content and research papers required to giver the learner deeper understanding of the topic.
We are hoping that through this course, you will be more informed, you will have fun while learning and that you will share your learnings with someone else. Information is power and relevant information on non-communicable diseases has never been important as it is currently.

Instructor
Ogweno Stephen is an optimist, an entrepreneur, and a visionary. His lifelong purpose and objective is to create a significant impact in the fields of global health, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
As a global health enthusiast, Ogweno Stephen is well-known for his work as an advocate and a trailblazer in the noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) field, where he has developed programs and innovations aimed at boosting NCDs knowledge and access to healthcare in Africa. He is the founder and CEO of Stowelink, an organization that he has grown to create and implement numerous health programs reaching ten African countries. In addition to this he also serves as a steering member of the World Health Organization (WHO) NCDs Labs where he works with the WHO to improve action on Non communicable diseases.
Ogweno also possess strong business acumen and is a serial entrepreneur who has founded and co-founded other successful ventures including NCDs Champions, Legacy Leadership Africa, the Kreative Hub and Info4food. As a seasoned speaker, his experience in business, leadership and innovation has led him to many stages including speaking at The Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom.
Ogweno is also a multi award winning entrepreneur who in 2021 was recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Young Leaders in Africa. Besides that, he is also a published scientific researcher and an author to three books and a co -author of the widely acclaimed best seller titled WE HAVE A DREAM. Ogweno Stephen continues to inspire action pivoting on Maya Angelou’s words: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
