New Knowledge for Business - who we should listen to - probably not the 'experts'
This lecture gives you an overview of the course
This LIVE LECTURE outlines why we need to turn some of our thinking about Business 'on its head'
Part 2 of the lecture delivered at the HIVE in Worcester. At the end of this session together with reading the lecture handout, students will be able to see the usefulness of models of the brain to help understanding, descibe a four quadrant model of knowledge, a CashFLow Quadrant model for Soloprenuers, and how a simple mid map summarises a talk.
Browse the slides quickly to accompany The New Knowledges Lectures, enabling everyone to prosper in the 21st century.
A live presentation on stage at Sandwell College to a group of Business Owners, Solopreneurs, SME employees and Academics
Part 2 of the talk at Sandwell College
This first part of the workshop examined the phenomenon of expert opinion and how much expert opinion is based on 'facts' (rather than personal interpretation of 'facts'). We also looked at the phenomenon of 'fake news'
This second part of the workshop focusses on knowledge, where knowledge comes from and how much of our knowledge (including scientific knowledge) is flawed or mis-leading because the statistical methods used were inappropriate to the studies or the assumptions upon which the research is based are not valid. Often scientists take 'associations' as being 'causal' with the flimsiest of understanding.
This third part of the workshop looked at models of the brain and also takes a detailed look (in this case with the "Heart-Cholesterol-Saturated Fat Theory) at how 'scientific' and 'expert' views and opinions can be completely wrong when based on both flawed assumptions/causes and invalid use of statistics

This lecture shows some of the major differences between an effective mind map and something I call a "Spaghetti Diagram". YOU CAN WHISK THROUGH THIS LECTURE watching it at x1.5 normal speed.

This is the recorded first draft of a talk that I was presenting at TEDx Canary Wharf. I've added slides to the audio to make it into a Udemy Video Lecture and also in the middle I've added a short video clip narrated by Morgan Freeman about the Default Brain Network. The talk covers three different models of the brain and looks at what the three models have in common. The lecture is relevant to all entrepreneurs especially those who'd like to contribute to improving our world.
This is a live video recording of my talk "Live Long and Prosper" delivered at a Coffee and Natter Business Networking event in February 2019. This talk goes into a bit more detail about the "how much time have you got?" mentioned in the Turning Business on its Head lecture in section 2 of this course. The video camera recording is 'side on' as the way the room was set up by the organiser it wasn't suitable to record from the front of the room
FORGET WHAT YOU KNOW!
A few interesting insights from a child prodigy with Autism (These are just a few clips from a longer video that you can find on the internet using the search terms Jacob Barnett with the title of his talk 'Forget What you Know'). This seems to me to be great insight from someone so young. His thinking reflects much of what I say throughout this course - that in order to come up with new and creative ideas (and solutions to problems) that we have to let go of our learning so that our thinking cane unrestrained.
This video introduces Siegels 'hand model' of the brain which is an alternative but similar model to the 'triune' model. Siegel also talks about 'brain integration' in this video and in a future video I will discuss how MIND MAPPING helps with the process of 'brain integration'
This was a draft of a talk forTEDx Canary Wharf )the event was in 2016.) Slides have been added to make it more visual
I was the lead (conference keynote) speaker at a recent International HR (Human Resources) Conference in Egypt (June 15th 2019). Here is the short video I produced for the conference organisers in advance of the session. You'll see that in this talk I'm incorporating many of the principles I advocate in this course.
When we blindly believe what the experts tell us ... this is the sort of thing that can happen …Interview with Andrew Bridgen Conservative MP in the UK
This is the last lecture of the course where I provide you with some discount coupons to some of my other courses:
If you want to learn mind mapping (or if you've tried mind mapping and have not found it very effective) then I would recommend my Mind Mapping Mastery Course. I believe that most people who "fail" at Mind Mapping do so because they have not been taught properly

This video outlines seven possible things to do to become a free thinker
Become a free thinker
1 doubt your beliefs
2. Rebel against authority (letting others think for you)
3. Observe your behaviour (we are victims to our habits
4 escape the herd
5. Do your own Research
6 use critical thinking
7 be open to change
Explore the tension between science and scientism, recognizing science as limited to what can be proved, while embracing open-minded inquiry into form, awareness, and the beauty beyond explanation.
This video exposes some of the nonsense about "Climate Change"
Lecture 21 showed an interview with Andrew Bridgen who was one of the few 'awake' MPs in the British Parliament. Here he is being interviewed in the UK in November 2024 following Donald Trump winning the US Presidential Election. We may not like Trump, Elon Musk or Robert Kennedy (both part of Trump's team) but all of them are 'awake' and demonstrate the new thinking which this course is about. They see through the scam of Net Zero and Vaccine ideology and harms and the harms of Industrial Agriculture (which if anything is harming the environment this, not CO2, is it). And Andrew Bridgen gives a UK perspective on how the actions of this USA leadership team is likely to impact the rest of the world to actually improve Health, Agriculture and the cost of Energy
In this (part one) video Barry is interviewed on the BizUnlearned podcast and outlines when 'doing nothing' is the best first response to a 'problem' or challenge. Doing nothing is akin to going to beginners mind or starting with a blank slate, no judgements, no preconditions. Although not mentioned in this clip, this is where good Mind Mapping starts - with a blank canvas waiting to be filled (not filled with trivia but filled with the key concepts) This video clip also appears on my Mind Mapping Mastery course
The course is based on a number of talks I've given to the business and health-conscious community over the last few years. And with what happened post 2020 with misinformation, I'm also now adding ways to spot the propaganda coming from Government and Commercial interests who want to take away from us our need to be FREE THINKERS.
The course outlines some new thinking for Business and Life Success in the 21st Century. If you are a leader, manager, or even a solopreneur this course gives you new ways to look at what you do. Many of the ideas here are deliberately provocative and thought stimulating, so if you take the course, please chip in with your own thoughts, concepts and new thinking in the discussion thread!
So, are you already a successful in your chosen career or would you like to become successful? Are you following traditional thinking and guidance about how to become a success in your chosen subject area, or are you looking for new and better ways to live your life and to do your business?
Taken from a series of live lectures delivered by the author, the Course gets you to look differently at business that is fit for the 21st Century. Although full of insights for those working in big companies, this course is especially relevant for smaller more nimble companies (including solopreneurs and freelancers) who want to help take their business to the next ‘level’. There are also insights for anyone thinking of starting their own business and wanting to become an entrepreneur.
Although we still need to continue with many of the business processes of the past (which are not covered here) it is important to take stock and consider how new thinking, new knowledge and new skills will enhance your business longevity, wellbeing and success. The course is not about the things that lead to short-term transient success, but is about the things you need to THINK about and take ACTION on, in order to achieve long-term meaningful 'success'.
The course comprises several live recorded talks that have been delivered to various professional/networking groups in the UK and the content includes:
How Premature Organisation prevents Conception
A Four Quadrant model of Knowledge
A new approach to your 'Health Insurance'
Mind Mapping introduced as an important business skill
Expert Frame of Mind v the Learner Frame of Mind (and the fall of the expert)
A ‘Cash Flow Quadrant’ - to get you thinking about your personal value
My FIVE Knowledges for Business Success
The rise of the Millionaire Teachers (something to think about)
A different perspective about TIME (How much have you got?)
The importance of Sleep time, Downtime and Brain Time
