Bart, or B.D., as he is best known to his friends and clients has been supporting business owners, MDs and CEOs for over two decades. He became a financial advisor for Edward Jones in 1997 and helped successful business owners and CEOs, both active and retired, to get their money to work as hard for them as they had to generate it in the first place.
In 2010, he launched Taurus Wealth Management which went one step further and helped owners, MDs and CEOs to get their business to work harder for them. B.D. realised that, while most affluent people created their wealth from either owning or being a partner in a business, few of them understood how to get the maximum value from it. As he put it “business owners and partner are great at what they do but they rarely know how to run a business.”.
This was underlined by the fact that many owners were either unable to sell their business and had to keep working in it or only got a fraction of the amount they wanted. The main reason for this- they were the business. You took the owner, MD or CEO out and all you had left were some employees and a client database. The owner had the magic and when they left so did most, if not all, of the value. So B.D. helped business owners to better understand the value of their business and how to increase it.
During this period, he wrote his first book, True Gravity, which looked at how business owners could best use their time, energy and focus. He launched Bart Dalton Consulting to explicitly helped business owners and MDs and developed his six-lever system- a sure-fire way to systematically increase the value of any business.
In September 2017, B.D. became the CEO of Continuum Corporate Lawyers in Birmingham. Continuum is a specialist law firm which helps owners, partners and CEOs to sell or acquire businesses. He is one of very few non-lawyers running a firm in the U.K.
