Adjust playback speed and video quality for optimal AutoCAD learning, enable captions if needed, and download resource files, Q&A, quizzes, assignments, and projects for mastery and interview and certificate preparation.
From this lecture onwards we will be going to start our AutoCAD, This is an introductory lecture that will make you familiar with the
History of AutoCAD.
Topics that we will cover in this course.
Workbench of an AutoCAD.
The Ortho mode in AutoCAD is used to restrict cursor movement to specific directions. It allows the cursor movement only in the vertical and horizontal direction.
Learning basic shapes are important! Since all the drawing are made using basic shapes only.
In this lecture, we will going to learn about
Circles & it's different approaches.
1. Centre, Radius
2. Centre, Diameter
3. 2 Point Circle, 3 Point Circle
4. Tan Tan Radius & Tan Tan Tan
The rectangle command is used to create rectangles in our drawing.
There are two methods to draw a rectangle. In the first method, we can create rectangles randomly by specifying the points. In the second method, we can create rectangles by specifying the value (length and width), Area.
This exercise will help you in creating your first drawing in AutoCAD, we will be focusing mainly on line command in this Exercise.
Trim is one of the most important editing tools, It helps you in trimming out certain portion of your drawing. In this lecture we will be learning that how we can use the trim command, and in the next lecture we will be looking for some of the important properties related to the trim.
Feet & Inches is the basic measuring unit in which we use AutoCAD for Civil & Architectural Drawings.
Like to draw a house plan(Section or Elevation), we have to use feet and inches, since it would be very difficult to represent units in millimeters.
The polygon command is used to create polygons in AutoCAD. We need to specify the number of sides to create a polygon.
Different methods to use polygon are
1. Inscribed Circle Method.
2. Circumscribed Circle Method.
Status Bar is located in the downward section of your AutoCAD Workbench and it contains the tools that we make your task easy, basically the tools that are found over here are the kinds of supporting tools.
In the above sections, we have seen the "Ortho Command" that is a part of Status Bar, and it restricts the motion of cursor that helps you in creating the straight line, Similarly, in this section also, we will be going to learn some of the important tools of the Status bar like Snaps, Polar Tracking, etc.
Snap restricts the movement of the crosshairs cursor to an interval that you define.
In this section, we will be looking for some of the editing tools that helps in creating some of the edit features like Fillets, Chamfer, we will also be looking for all kinds of manipulation tools, like, Move, Copy, Rotate, Scale. These tools may look complicated but once we learning the basic concepts and procedure to use them, you will find them easy.
These command are very much used in Civil or Architectural Plans, these tools are frequently used in creating staircase, Front Elevation of building, etc.
The offset command in AutoCAD is used to create parallel lines, concentric circles, and parallel curves.
Offset command is very popular in creating staircases in civil plans.
Mirror command is mostly used to create symmetric objects like Car, etc.
The fillet command is used to create rounded edges between the adjacent lines and faces in 2D and 3D.
Let's see how we can create a House plan in AutoCAD, here, we are going to see the use of tools like, line, offset, trim, etc.
Create and customize a basic AutoCAD table by inserting from data or Excel, adjusting columns, rows, and styles, and editing content directly at the insertion point.

Topics that we cover in this course.
2D Drafting(AutoCAD 2D): AutoCAD is popular for its 2D Drafting, It provides very flexible tools that makes the job easy. We will be spending a lot of time in this section and we will be covering all the basic shapes tools, like Line, Circle, Rectangle, Polygon, etc.
We will also going to see the important editing tools like trim, move, scale, etc. Here we are also going to learn about the important concepts that will help you in making your designs comprehensive
Some of the major concepts that we cover are
1. Important Tools on Status Bar- This tools will help you in precise snapping of different objects.
2.Important Editing Tools- Here, we will going to learn about the tools that will help you in editing the drawings that we create, because without editing it is difficult to generate the complex features.
3.Different Kinds of Hatches and Arrays- These tools are important for both AutoCAD Mechanical & Architectural Designs, we will learn all the aspects of these tools.
4.Diiferent types of Annotations- Only the drawings are not enough in the projects, there are text, symbols, dimensions representations, colors, etc. are also matters in creating your project successfully and defined, here in this section we will going to learn how to provide text, dimensions, symbols, tables, arrows and many more in your design.
5.Object Properties & Annotation Styles- Learn to add different colors, fonts, scales, etc. in your designs using these tools.
6. Concept of Layers- Divide your drawings in different sections according to your own choice using the concepts of layers
7. Learn Isometric Drawings- Learn to create different Isometric Drawings in AutoCAD, Yet another important features used in technical drawings.
8.Block, Attributes & Groups- These are important tools that will help you in organizing your drawing.
9. Learn Parametric Features- Parametric features will help you in providing the parameters to the drawings and then alter you can change these parameters to alter your design.
10. Learn Different Tools & Tricks to Increase Productivity- In AutoCAD, How fast and accurate you create the design matters a lot. In this section, you will learn different tools and tricks that will help you to create drawings faster, ultimately increasing your overall productivity.
11. Overview of a Floor Plan- In this section, we will going to design an architectural floor plan.
12. Use of different AI tool in AutoCAD- Nowadays AI(Artificial Intelligence) is playing a very active role in tech industries, Even in AutoCAD also, you can make some task very easy just by using AI.
After this section, you can easily able to create 2D Architectural Designs, Mechanical Designs, Electrical Designs and many more.
3D Modeling(AutoCAD 3D): 3D Modeling is also an important part of AutoCAD. You can create amazing 3D Models in AutoCAD, but the point is that, you should know the important tools and view concepts,
In this section, we will learn about the tools like Extrude, Revolve, Presspull, Sweep, etc.
We will also going to see some important editing tools like, fillets, chamfers, etc.
After this section, you can able to create Civil 3D, Mechanical 3D, & Other 3D Models.
Learning these concept will definitely help you when you are going to learn more advance 3D Modeling software like, SolidWorks, CATIA, 3DS Max, Revit MEP, Revit Architecture, etc.
It will also acts as a backbone if you want to learn AutoCAD Plant 3D or Fusion 360.
Plotting & Layout: Once you create your designs then you should able to print that into the sheets, Here we will be covering the concepts of how we can able to print our designs in standard paper sheets.
