Navigating the National Electrical Code

Navigating the National Electrical Code (NEC) provides a history and introduction of the NEC, its framework and scope, and practical instruction on applying relevant NEC standards to electrical projects and tasks. The course illustrates the appropriate steps to access the correct Code standards/language for specific applications and how to interpret and adhere to NEC language.

Successful completion of Navigating the National Electrical Code will augment participants' skill sets by improving electrical craft competence and quality. From electricians and engineers to students, hobbyists, and DIY homeowners, familiarity with and a working knowledge of the NEC is beneficial and often essential. NEC standards govern most electrical systems and projects in the United States and are adopted in some international jurisdictions. The NEC standards help assure the safety and quality of electrical systems, and the Code evolves as new technologies and equipment become available - most recently, renewable energy systems, lighting and controls, and electric vehicle charging. 

Lack of knowledge or misunderstanding of the NEC's structure and navigation is an often-cited issue among electricians, engineers, technicians, and students. Navigating the National Electrical Code will help resolve that.
