Welcome to this course dedicated to you as the immersive nature leader. During this course, we will look at essential points to consider as a nature leader.
Treat every fallen butterfly wing with wonder and awe as you would while sitting next to a flower patiently waiting for a butterfly to complete its pollination duty. There is so much magic in the things we can feel but can’t yet see.
Most people really dislike something about nature. Learning about something you fear is often the best way to overcome those feelings.
Every time you smile and laugh your brain is showered with essential hormones that are essential for deep learning.
Don’t make life more serious than it is, and when in doubt ask nature.
I have spoken a lot of conceptual lenses, but what are these concepts and how can I use them to enhance my questioning?
Storytelling is one of the hidden gems when working with children. Immersive nature storytelling shares information with children related to values, emotions, hopes, and beliefs.
Information that is crucial for future generations.
This section walks hand in hand with storytelling. Children are eager to ask questions starting with “what is that?” before even actually looking at what they are questioning.
The Energetic Spirits approach sees self-directed opportunities for children to have fun and experience infinite play. Every child remains in their magical space of childhood and time does not confine or define them.
When children know what the essential agreements are it becomes easy to reference these agreements and it removes the decision-making from you as the educator that might be labeled as, “mean” or "unfair" because you took their new pet lizard!
Nature speaks a different language and sometimes being trapped in the busyness of everything it is important to learn another way to listen.

This course will cover the following objectives/outcomes that will provide you with information:
How to bring equality into immersive nature-based activities
Plan a physically and psychologically safe environment for children and families
Set clear negotiable and non-negotiable boundaries for your teaching
Layout authentic learning experiences which engage children and their families
Develop uniquely designed immersive nature-based programs
We will dive into points for decision-making, ethics, communication, and most importantly your overall responsibility as an immersive nature leader. This course has rich content and interesting topics such as acknowledging fear and allowing equality for all to experience nature in their own way at their own time under your guidance and support.
As the immersive nature leader, it is essential to have your own understanding of what behaviors are negotiable, and what behaviors are non-negotiable for you. Again with clarity, you will be able to communicate clearly to the people and children that you work with what your expectations actually are. When everyone is responsible for their best self, there is much more room to explore and have fun.
Model reverence and respect to a rock in the same way you would to a bird egg when you discover a hidden nest in the grass. Treat every fallen butterfly wing with wonder and awe as you would while sitting next to a flower patiently waiting for a butterfly to complete its pollination duty. There is so much magic in the things we can feel but can’t yet see.
