  • Creatividad/ creativity2:08

To start writing, we must count on creativity, that word so used today. The same, for many, is like the muse that never arrives, but creativity is practiced, like any skill. I like to see it from a spiritual perspective, ying and yang or masculine energy and feminine energy. The feminine energy is the fertile, the creative, the yin or masculine energy is the rigid, the structures. In order to create, we need both energies, if possible, in balance.

To practice yang or feminine energy, we can resort to abstract art, to paint without knowing what we are painting, to practice art without expecting any specific result, to automatic writing, it is just about creating without further ado, without hesitation, unleashing ourselves from all inhibition and let the metaphorical canvas or not, be what it has to be.

Likewise, there are many methods that can be used to practice artistic creativity, here are some of them:

Experimentation: try new techniques and materials, explore different forms of artistic expression.

Observation: pay attention to your surroundings, to nature, to people and to art in all its forms.

Imitation: Study and copy your favorite artists, then try incorporating your own ideas and techniques.

Self-Discipline: Establish a regular practice schedule and spend time creating art each day.

Collaboration: Work with other artists, exchange ideas, and learn from your peers.

Continuous learning: keep studying and learning, take classes and read books on art and creativity.

Positive reinforcement: make an effort to recognize and value your achievements, and learn from your mistakes.

Get out of the comfort zone: challenge your skills and look for new artistic challenges.

Keeping a record: Keep a journal of your creative processes and your thoughts and reflections on art.

Remember that creativity is a constant process of experimenting, learning and improving, and that regular practice and dedication are key to developing your artistic skills.

Remember that getting over writer's block can take time and patience, but trying different strategies and finding what works for you will help you get over it.

Writer's block, also known as "writer's syndrome," occurs when a writer experiences difficulty continuing to write or beginning to write. Some of the more common causes include:

Lack of inspiration: A lack of interesting ideas or topics can be a hindrance to writing.

Anxiety or fear: Anxiety or fear of not being able to write something good enough can be an impediment to writing.

Perfectionism: The desire to write something perfect can be overwhelming and paralyzing.

Lack of motivation: If a writer loses her motivation or interest in writing, she may experience a block.

Stress and fatigue: Stress and fatigue can get in the way of concentrating and writing.

While writer's block can be frustrating, there are several strategies that can help you overcome it, such as writing on a different topic, pausing and taking a break, working from a prompt, or doing a writing-related activity. Therapy and a support group can also be helpful in treating writer's block.

  • Cómo salir del bloqueo/How to get out1:54

From the famous writer's block or the blank page, we leave writing the first thing that comes to mind, there are various techniques: automatic writing, that is, writing the first thing that comes to mind, whether it makes sense or not, writing that we cannot writing, writing what seems to us to follow in the story or to be the story. But they are not all technical, sometimes it is about giving ourselves space, relaxing and letting the work or ourselves and our energy rest in case there is no work. Personally, writer's block has never been a problem for me, but I have to say that one way to get ideas when you don't have them is to simply read. Read or consume art of any kind. It also helps to practice other arts to get out of the writer's box in front of the keyboard or with a pen in hand. Practicing other arts gives us new perspectives and at the same time enriches our own art with techniques or ideas that were previously forbidden to us.

Here are several strategies you can try to get out of writer's block:

Change your perspective: write about a different topic or experiment with a different genre.

Take a break: Take a break from writing and do other activities that you enjoy and help you relax.

Use prompts: Use a prompt or writing exercise to help you brainstorm and get started writing.

Write by hand: Writing by hand instead of on a computer can help you overcome the block.

Do creative exercises: Do creative exercises, such as drawing, coloring or modeling to help you unleash your creativity.

Talk to other people: Talk to other people, whether it's friends, family, or writing partners, for support and encouragement.

Therapy or support group: Consider joining a support group or seeing a therapist who specializes in writer's block.

Remember that getting over writer's block can take time and patience, but trying different strategies and finding what works for you will help you get over it.

  • Cómo practicar/ How to practice2:06

    3. Escribir relatos cortos: escribir relatos cortos te permite experimentar con diferentes técnicas narrativas y perfeccionarlas.

    4. Practicar descripciones: escribir descripciones detalladas de personas, lugares y objetos te ayuda a mejorar tus habilidades de descripción y a enriquecer tus narrativas.

To practice narrative, stories are recommended and not novels for the simple fact that the stories are short. In what we write a novel, we can write, perhaps, 10 stories, on the other hand, the stories are theoretically more difficult to write than novels because they encompass a number of ideas in a smaller space of characters, thus having to maintain a greater neatness in the narrative, to be more precise, while in a novel you can let yourself be carried away by the plot freely.

The more finished works, the more works to review and the more works produced, obviously. What I want to say with the latter is that 10 works that are a 7 to 1 better than a 10 (if we are lucky that it is a 10), because the more we practice, the better we will write, since the narration is the same, one skill, and a seven from someone who wrote 100 plays will be much higher than a 10 from someone who wrote only one play.

Here are some ways to practice narrative:

Read Widely: Read books from different genres and authors to learn from master storytellers and expand your knowledge.

Write daily: Spend time writing every day, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Writing Short Stories: Writing short stories allows you to experiment with and refine different narrative techniques.

Practice Descriptions: Writing detailed descriptions of people, places, and objects helps you improve your description skills and enrich your narratives.

Exercise Observation: Pay attention to the details of the world around you and practice writing them down to improve your storytelling skills.

Participate in writing workshops or writing groups: These can be a great opportunity to get constructive feedback and criticism on your writing.

Review and Edit: Carefully review and edit your writing to identify and correct errors and to improve the narrative.

Remember that practice makes perfect, and spending time writing and revising your writing will help you improve your narrative over time.

  • Cómo estructurar narrativamente/ How to structure2:30

The classic narrative structure consists of harmonious state, conflict, resolution. This in depth can be seen as a negative or positive state of the situation in the story that goes to the other extreme (positive or negative) due to an event that triggers a conflict.

For every narrative work we need an inciting incident, that is, an incident that takes our hero out of his place of comfort (positive or negative) to give rise to a fight that takes him to a new state (positive or negative) of balance. It may happen that a negative state goes to an even worse one instead of a positive one, but ideally the transitions are from positive or negative to the other constantly. This can be seen even in a dialogue, how the situation varies from positive to negative in each dialogue, in each exchange, ideally these micro transitions occur in each instance, giving rise to a continuous flow of the rhythm of the narrative structure.

The structure of a narrative is made up of several key elements, including:

Introduction: In this section, the author introduces the reader to the main theme or character of the story and sets the tone and atmosphere.

Plot development: In this section, the author presents the action and events that make up the main plot.

Character Development: In this section, the author delves into the characters and their personalities, motivations, and challenges throughout the story.

Climax: In this section, the author presents the most important event and tension of the story, leading up to the climax.

Climax: In this section, the author presents the resolution of the plot and any central conflicts.

Denouement: In this section, the author addresses any remaining issues or questions and provides closure to the story.

Conclusion: In this section, the author provides a final summary of the story and can reflect on its underlying themes or messages.

It's important to note that this basic structure can vary based on genre, tone, and the specific needs of the story. However, maintaining a clear and coherent structure in the narrative can help keep the reader's attention and ensure a satisfying reading experience.

  • Voz activa y pasiva/Active and passive voice in narrative0:46

The passive and active voice are two different ways of constructing sentences in the narrative that have different effects on the way the action is presented.

The active voice presents the action directly, making the subject of the sentence perform the action. For example: "John ran through the park."

On the other hand, the passive voice presents the action indirectly, making the object of the action the subject of the sentence. For example: "The park was run by Juan".

Using the active voice can create a sense of action and dynamism in the narrative, while the passive voice can emphasize the object or result of the action. It is important to use both voices in a balanced way in the narrative to achieve a fuller and more varied effect.

  • Cómo aprender/ How to learn0:41

Para aprender a escribir mejor, debemos leer. Enfatizo leer.

To learn to write better, we must read. I emphasize reading. You can't be a writer if you don't read. I believe that the masterpieces of literature should be read, the classics, the contemporaries, the most famous works from which one belongs by nationality, since that gives us a cultural base to cling to and also make a family tree of authors according to our favorite authors. , that is, if we like Pizarnik, who was that poet influenced by and read those poets by whom she was influenced, because that way we will find our "family" of writers and our narrative line will be able to establish itself.

  • Adverbios/ Adverbs1:18

Adverbs ending in mind should be removed entirely or nearly entirely due to the cacophony they produce. A good narrative must be euphonious, since art is also aesthetic, but aesthetics must come naturally, and not adorned with words, one must write as one speaks. Instead of presenting an aesthetic order of words, we must present an order of aesthetic situations, on which quality narrative aesthetics is based. On the other hand, returning to the adverbs, we can replace them with "gently" instead of "gently" because gently sounds harshly and extensively cacophonously.

On the other hand, adverbs ending in "-ly" should not be used excessively in the narrative, since they can make the writing repetitive and predictable, which can result in a boring and monotonous reading. Also, an excessive use of these adverbs can cause the action to be described indirectly and inaccurately, instead of allowing the verbs and adjectives to speak for themselves. In general, it is better to use a variety of writing techniques to describe the action clearly and effectively, rather than relying exclusively on adverbs ending in "-ly".

  • Tiempos verbales/ Verb tenses1:27

The future tense favors speculation about what would happen, as if nothing said had happened yet and it was situated in the narrator's uncertainty or speculation.

The present gives more impact to what is narrated, it gives a more violent sensation to the events because they are narrated as happening in the now.

The past is the most classic and common, it can be adapted to any story since an event of past events is narrated.

In general, we do not want the verb tenses to change, we must remain faithful to one during the story, but there are situations in which it can change, these situations occur when the narrator is changed.

It can also be said that the narrator himself, even if he is omniscient and located outside the story, is also a character because he carries a certain vocabulary, more or less worked to be more or less integrated into the narrative.

The narrative past tense favors the creation of a sense of historicity and temporal distance in the narrative. By using this tense, the narrator can tell a story that has already happened, allowing readers to visualize events as if they were happening in the past. Also, the narrative past can give a sense of conclusion and resolution to the plot, which can appeal to readers looking for a closed, linear narrative.

The narrative present tense favors the creation of a sense of immediacy and urgency in the narrative. By using this tense, the narrator can make events appear to be happening in real time, which can add to the tension and excitement in the plot. Additionally, the narrative present can make the story more accessible and engaging to readers by allowing them to visualize events as if they were happening at the time they are reading.

The narrative future tense favors the creation of a feeling of uncertainty and expectation in the narrative. By using this tense, the narrator can make events appear to be about to happen, which can add to the tension and excitement in the plot. Additionally, the narrative future can allow the narrator to explore different possible scenarios and create a sense of possibility and mystery, which can appeal to readers looking for a more open-ended, non-linear narrative.

  • Funciones de personas narrativas/Functions of Narrative Personas2:40

First, second, and third person narrative functions refer to the perspective from which a story or narrative is told.

First person: the narrator is a character in the story and tells the events from his point of view, using phrases like "I" or "we."

Second person: the narrator addresses the reader or receiver of the story directly, using phrases such as "you" or "you." This perspective is less common in the literature.

Third person: The narrator is an entity external to the story and recounts events from an objective perspective, using phrases such as "he" or "she". This is the most common perspective in the literature.

The first person narrative has some advantages that make it attractive to some authors and readers. Some of them are:

Intimacy: The first-person perspective allows the reader to feel a closer and more personal connection to the narrator, which can be more emotionally impactful.

Personal point of view: As the narrator is a character within the story, his thoughts, emotions and motivations can be explored in a deeper way.

Immersion: The first-person perspective can be more engaging for the reader as it allows them to feel like they are experiencing the story first-hand.

Effective Communication: By addressing the reader directly, the first person narrative can be more effective in communicating subjective or personal issues.

However, it is also important to note that the first person narrative can be limiting in terms of objectivity and the ability to show multiple perspectives on the story.

The second person narrative favors a sense of inclusion and participation of the reader in the story, since the narrator addresses the reader directly using pronouns such as "you" and "your". This can be effective in making the story more personal and exciting for the reader. Additionally, second person narrative can be used to provide instructions or to create a sense of play or challenge, such as in interactive textbooks or role-playing games.

The third person narrative allows for greater objectivity and emotional distance from the narrator with respect to the characters and the action. This can create a sense of impartiality and authority in the narrative. In addition, the third person allows the actions, thoughts and feelings of multiple characters to be described in more detail and depth, which can enrich the plot and the understanding of the story.

The literary analysis serves to break down the elements that make up something bigger, which is the story or novel that we use for analysis. Breaking down these elements allows us to delve into the mechanisms that the narrative uses to function, what works and what an element allows and what hinders or what meaning it gives, etc.

Literary analyzes can be carried out from a semiotic perspective, using repetitive language, for example, we group all the words that have to do with vision in a story, we group everything that has to do with blood. Examples of vision: lens, mirror, eye, light.

From this, we draw conclusions about what all this refers to in the story, giving new meaning.

It should be said that the interpretations are free and are not subject to an ultimate meaning, the ultimate meaning is not given by the author, but by the interpreter or reader. We have to become active readers, who participate in the narrative by interpreting it instead of just staying on the surface.

To carry out a literary analysis of a text, the following steps must be followed:

Close reading: reading the text several times, paying attention to the details and the relationships between the characters, the plot, the language and the structure.

Historical and Cultural Context: Investigate the historical and cultural context in which the text was written, including the author, time, and place.

Character analysis: identify and evaluate characters, including their development, motivations, and relationships.

Plot analysis: examining the plot, including the conflict, resolution, and story structure.

Language and style analysis: examining the author's language and style, including narrative, dialogue, description, and literary elements.

Thematic analysis: identify and explore the themes of the text, including the ideas and values that the author wishes to convey.

Conclusion: Develop a conclusion that summarizes the analysis and presents the most important observations and conclusions.

It is important to keep in mind that literary analysis is a subjective interpretation and that there can be many different interpretations of the same text.

Literary analysis is a valuable tool for understanding and appreciating literary works. When conducting a literary analysis, the structure, language, characters, plot, theme, tone, atmosphere, and other aspects of a work are examined in order to understand its meaning and impact.

Literary analysis allows readers to better understand the author's intent and the cultural and historical context in which the work was written. It can also help to identify recurring patterns and themes in literature and to assess the artistic quality of the work.

Additionally, literary analysis is a valuable skill for writers, as it helps them understand how literary works work and develop their own writing styles and techniques.

In short, literary analysis is a useful tool for learning more about literary works and for understanding how the elements that contribute to their success or failure work.

  • Corrección o reescritura/ Correction or rewrite1:35

Usually we will have to do a lot of proofreading and rewriting, but I recommend that this be done after the work is done. We never take a work for bad because we do not like how it turned out at the beginning, since the first draft would be like the raw material and the corrections or rewriting would be the polish that would give the work its finished seal. Only then can we judge.

The process of rewriting a work can vary depending on the writer and the work in question, but in general it usually includes the following steps:

Review: Read and review the complete work, identifying the aspects that must be improved or corrected.

Evaluation: Evaluate the characters, the plot, the structure, the tone and other aspects of the work, determining which aspects should be strengthened or changed.

Planning: Make a plan for the rewrite, including what changes need to be made and how they need to be made.

Rewrite: Rewrite the work, incorporating the changes and improvements identified in the previous steps.

Final Review: Reviewing the rewritten work, making sure that necessary changes and improvements have been made, and that the work is coherent and works as a whole.

Final evaluation: Evaluate the rewritten work, determining if the desired objective has been achieved, and making any additional changes that are necessary.

The rewriting process can be repetitive and requires time and dedication, but it is an important part of the process of creating a work. Rewriting allows writers to improve their work, make it more coherent and engaging, and deliver their message more effectively.

The classic narrative structure that goes from a positive to a negative state is known as the "disaster progression structure." This structure is based on the idea that the story begins with a character or situation in a positive or balanced state, and then undergoes a series of conflicts and challenges that eventually lead to a negative or disastrous state.

The disaster progression structure is an effective way to capture the audience's attention and maintain their interest throughout the story. Furthermore, it allows writers to explore and develop the characters and themes of the story in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Here is an example of the disaster progression structure:

Exposure: the main character and her initial situation, which is positive and stable, is presented.

Knot: Conflicts and challenges are presented that alter the initial balance and trigger a series of negative events.

Development of the action: the conflicts and challenges continue to increase in intensity and complexity, taking the main character towards an increasingly negative state.

Climax: The most dramatic moment in the story, in which the main character faces her greatest challenge and comes close to disaster.

Denouement: the resolution of the story, in which the main character and her final situation are presented in a negative or disastrous state.

This classic narrative structure has been used in many forms of art and entertainment, from literature to film and television. However, it is important to note that not all stories need to follow this structure, and that there are many other narrative structures that can be just as effective.

Conflict is a key component of the narrative structure and can be considered the engine that drives the action and maintains the reader's interest. In its most basic form, conflict refers to a situation or problem that challenges the characters and requires them to solve the problem in order to achieve their goals.

There are two main types of conflict in narrative: internal conflict and external conflict. Internal conflict refers to emotional or psychological challenges faced by characters, while external conflict refers to external challenges faced by characters, such as a rivalry, natural disaster, or battle.

Conflict is important because it creates tension and drama in the story and helps keep the reader's attention. Furthermore, the conflict also allows the characters to develop and grow throughout the story.

In short, conflict is a critical factor in creating an interesting story and holding the reader's interest, and it is an essential component of classical narrative structure.

In conclusion, writing is a passion, each one's narrative voice can only be found after a lot of experience, but little by little we all achieve it. We must always think about less is more (reduce the number of words we use to express something, be precise) and about showing instead of explaining, because that is narrating.
