Description

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) recently updated its North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) content. Calculations and biostatistics were added to Foundation Knowledge for Pharmacy practice. Whether you work in retail, a hospital, pharmaceuticals, long-term care, or nuclear pharmacy, these topics are very important in pharmacy.

A NAPLEX calculations course focuses on developing and reinforcing mathematical skills essential for pharmacy practice and success on the NAPLEX exam. It covers various concepts, including dosage calculations, drug concentrations, conversions, Biostatistics, pharmacokinetics, and patient-specific parameters. The course aims to equip students to solve quantitative problems encountered in pharmacy practice accurately and efficiently.

Calculations are one of the important parameters when taking the Naplex Exam. For instance, calculations like rate of administrations, dose conversions, ratio strengths, osmolarity, osmolality, isotonicity, nutritional needs, pH and pKa, Alligation, Creatinine Clearance, pharmacokinetics, and many others are important.

For pharmacokinetics, you will learn clearance, Half-life, Bioavailability, Predicting Drug Concentration,  and Loading Dose.

For Biostatistics, we will learn Confidence Intervals, Statistical Significance or Nonsignificance, the Null Hypothesis, the Alternative Hypothesis, Type 1 error, Type 2 error, Relative Risk, Absolute Risk, and Odds Ratio / Hazard Ratio.

You will also learn different study types, such as cohort studies, randomized controlled trials, and meta-analysis.

Who this course is for:

  • Pharmacy students / graduates
  • Those who want to pass NAPLEX
