This is a course for musicians, music producers, songwriters, indie publishers that want to get their music placed in TV shows & Films. Ashley talks about every step of the process including what deals you need with all your collaborators, how to set up a publishing company, and what versions (i.e. files) you need of all your songs to have them ready for placement. You will also learn how to start pitching your songs yourself or who you can hire to do it for you. Ashley also covers the music licensing process so you can be empowered to license your songs yourself and be able to speak intelligently with anyone in the sync licensing industry. She has a unique perspective because she currently is the SVP of a successful LA based music library and is also music supervising several TV shows and Films. WHO IS ASHLEY?
Ashley pulls from her 15+ years of experience working in all aspects of the music to picture industry. Her first industry job was working as an assistant to a record producer manager, Bennett Kaufman, and she ended up starting a music licensing division within his company. A couple years later, she got an opportunity to move on to cutting edge music library, True Music, headed by legendary composer Kurt Farquhar. She came on as an administrative assistant and worked her way through all departments and is currently their SVP of Production & Music Supervision. Ashley has been involved in all aspects of running a music library including managing music production of new music for the catalog, pitching songs, and handling the music licensing. As a Music Supervisor she has worked on various TV shows & Films including The Neighborhood, American Soul, Games People Play, Real Husbands of Hollywood, 96 Minutes, The Kamiyah Mobley Story, Light Girls, Russell Simmons Presents: Brave New Voices, & The Quad. In 2020, Ashley was nominated for a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for Best Music Supervision of a Dramatic Series for her work on "American Soul". She also created Moon Eye Music a consulting and educational company that supports musicians in making more money off their music through music licensing & publishing.
