Edit this project from scratch to mirror the final piece for Longines, filmed in Hong Kong, matching a voiceover to the visuals, with practice files provided.
Music and visuals carry equal weight in video editing, so treat sound as equally important; a strong song choice can set pace, tone, and emotion.
Explore music genres from bossa nova to techno to sharpen your video editing, listen to tracks, and imagine visuals: color palettes, pacing, and camera moves—while studying music videos across genres.
Explore the music platform and genres, then analyze a song's length to fit a video between one and two minutes, listening to options and keeping duration in mind.
Analyze the full song to identify a strong beginning and a chorus hook or drop, then select a chorus that repeats motifs, typically at least twice.
Learn how to cut songs to match a video length using stems to mix bass, melody, and drums, mark beats, and synchronize the track for a 1:30 edit.
Play the song, mark key beats and melody cues to guide cuts and synchronize footage with the music, using marks to place cuts along the beat.
