Assessments are used as both a diagnostic and measurement tool. They are designed to give us information about how well your body moves and works, and where improvements can or should be made. By performing this self assessment on the major joints of your body you will have a better idea about where your personal imbalances or limitations lie which can can pain, movement restriction, and even injury. Go through each assessment thoroughly and perform the movements with the specific details regarding setup and execution in mind to ensure that you are assessing your current mobility and not compensating to make up for a lack of mobility.
Assess shoulder mobility with extension and flexion tests, emphasizing neutral spine and proper form. Use 3–5 reps and side photos to identify imbalances and improve shoulder health.
Assess shoulder mobility through strict internal/external rotation, extension, and flexion with neutral spine and elbows at 90, perform 3–5 reps, and take end-range photos for evaluation.
Learn to assess hip rotation and hip flexion from a line position by stabilizing the pelvis, maintaining a neutral lower back, and capturing end-range snapshots.
Assess knee rotation by rotating the shin through end-range inward and outward, snap a picture at end range, to establish a baseline and side-to-side balance with three to five reps.
Assess ankle mobility through dorsiflexion with outward and inward rotation, measure alignment, then test full rotation in both directions, recording video to identify limitations and targets for improvement.
If you have pain or nagging injuries, if you want to get stronger and move better, and/or if you want to have the ability to do ALL the things you love and live for, you MUST assess where you're currently at so that a program can be developed for your specific needs. Go through this assessment course and figure out where your current strengths and limitations lie so that we can develop a plan for YOU!
