Welcome to the Mountain Water Landscape Painting Class
If the oriental brush painting is a unique and shining crown, then the landscape painting is the jewel on this crown. The Chinese term for “landscape” is made up of two characters meaning “mountains and water.” It is linked with the philosophy of Daoism, which emphasises harmony with the natural world.
Viewing oriental landscape paintings, it is clear that the oriental depictions of nature are seldom mere representations of the external world. Rather, they are expressions of the mind and heart of the individual viewers—cultivated landscapes that embody the culture and cultivation of their masters.
